Just when you think he's an a$$ again.

Two days after one of the worst races of Kyle Busch's career – a disastrous Kansas race that ended in a crash and damaged his championship hopes – Busch was surrounded by perspective.

At the trendy uptown Charlotte restaurant 5 Church, cards with the names and ages of breast cancer patients hung from the ceiling as guests found their way to tables at a high-dollar charity dinner. Individual seats ranged from $750 to $2,500, which would get you a spot at Busch's table.

Busch, who hosted the "Project Pink Party" Tuesday night with wife Samantha, mingled with those in attendance, gave a speech and even led the group in a pre-meal prayer.

When it appeared the topic of racing might come up while chatting with a reporter, Busch quickly changed the subject.

"Tonight is not about me," he said firmly.

Who was it about? Twelve breast cancer patients – either uninsured or underinsured – who will have their treatments paid for through the Pretty In Pink Foundation. Samantha, who had been organizing the event for months, said the couple wanted to pick a charity which had direct, tangible results.

"We knew we wanted to make a difference in our community," she said. "We knew we wanted to help our neighbors. We've heard stories of women who either had to choose between paying a mortgage and putting food on the table or getting the treatment they needed. And you know what? Nobody should have to go through that. They should just worry about getting better."

What happens on the track stays on the track. Most of these guys are really outstanding humans, but their reputation gets tattered by their styles of racing instead of their life off the track.
