Larson, McDowell and Ryan Truex, Harry Scott is saying now. I think he said Allgaier for three races, he has ran one, so two left for Allgaier and I guess the rest is musical drivers..glad they get a shot at it.
This year, we're probably going to run Larson in the #51 some to give him Cup experience, and we've got Michael McDowell in it this weekend; we're excited about that. We'll have Ryan Truex in the car at Dover. I think Dover will be a good one for him. He should have a really good shot to show what he's made of."(Frontstretch)(9-20-2013)

Not surprising. EGR wasn't gonna take Juan out of the car so the next best thing is have Harry Scott put Larson in his car.

Really hoping McDowell can perform for this car given the opportunity to drive. Truex needs more seat time in the lower ranks hopefully RPM can get their stuff together and just put the kid a Nationwide ride next year. I'm pretty mich like everyone else and have never been impressed by Algaier.

I haven't been impressed with either Truex. McDowell needs another decent shot on an oval, good road racer.

Its right around where the 51 been all year. need to keep it on the track unlike Alligaier last week.

Yeah it doesnt seem Mcdowell ever gets a shot at anything but Start and Park. I look forward to seeing how he does. He did great in that NW race at.... was it Road America? earlier this year

Good news for HMS. Larson can spin as well as allgaier when Gordo needs a yellow. Since JJ did it 2 weeks ago, and Allgaier help him last week, using different drivers will keep nascar from figuring out what is going on.

Not that it's so difficult to stay a step ahead of Helton & France.

yeah road racing is his background, he is good at that and I think he can give a car a good ride. Needs to do more ovals. When the smoke cleared, he is starting 27th which is about where that car qualifies.

Dover is one of the hardest track to run at. He thinks it'll be a good one for Ryan? Ouch.

I don't know, young Ryan hasn't been that good in any series IMO, monster mile for a green rookie? I guess Scott doesn't have drivers standing in line to get into the 51.

He ran Allgaier last week and intends to do for 2014. Considering Justin's first start was a lot better than Ryan's (who crashed on lap 39 at Bristol, and then proceeded to finish 5 laps down at Richmond) I don't see the logic in changing drivers.

Truex should concentrate on Nationwide.

he does? where does it say he is running Allgaier. That is news to me. All I read is that he said Allgaier for three of seven races this year and he has already used him last week in his spinathon cup debut.

I dont understand the logic of running Truex in cup. Imo he has talent, but has little NW experience and so far has crashed and burned (literally)

might be desperation more than logic. Not too many drivers are loose to drive the car would be my guess.

I may be biased (I'm a fan of Ryan Truex) but I don't see why he's a bad choice. He would've won at Dover in nationwide last year if it hadn't been for Logano.

Look how bad he has been in his two starts in cup this season. He plain as day isnt ready.

Welcome to the forum EaglesFan , I think Ryan will be just fine . Comes from a racing family and is learning on the job.Anyone who doesn't wreck a couple race cars in his youth , isn't trying to find the edge.

Thanks for the welcome! And I agree 100% with what you said.

For whatever reason the Truex boys are really good at Dover. As mentioned earlier Ryan almost won last year in NNS, Logano just got past him in traffic I believe and went on to win. Of course Martin also had a win there in Cup. So I see the logic in running Ryan at Dover. I'm just pumped to see Larson in a Cup car.

Larson to make Sprint debut in Charlotte

Kyle Larson will make his Sprint Cup debut at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Oct. 12.

The 21-year-old Elk Grove, Calif., native is scheduled to test the No. 51 Target Chevy for Phoenix Racing on the 1.5-mile track in Concord, N.C., on Tuesday. Crew chief Nick Harrison will oversee the test, but the car will be prepared by Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with a Hendrick Motorsports engine.

You can read the rest here.

Nice to see Egr preparing the car but the 51 has been getting hendrick power for the season

Allgaier 27th @ Chicago 1 lap down, McDowell 30th @ Loudon 3 laps down, Truex 32nd @Dover 8 laps down. Allgaier is in it this weekend at Kansas. It will be interesting to see if Larson can do better with the 51 car.
