Petty breaks hand: Austin Petty co-hosted "The Morning Drive" today on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio with Marty Snider. During the show, Austin revealed that his father, Kyle, injured his hand this weekend at Watkins Glen.
Austin Petty: "I'm not going to disclose all the information but there was an incident between his fist and a wall and a broken bone."
Marty Snider: "Is he OK? [Is] everything alright?"
Austin Petty: "I think so. I think they may have to do a little surgery on it on Tuesday. I don't know the full details."
Marty Snider: "He'll be OK to race at Michigan though, right?"
Austin Petty: "That's what I'm hearing."
"The Morning Drive" airs every weekday (7 - 11am/et) exclusively on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio, channel 128.
Tony Stewart Live, which Stewart hosts with pit road reporter Matt Yocum, will air live tonight, August 13, from 8:00-10:00pm/et exclusively on SIRIUS NASCAR Radio channel 128. Stewart will talk about his third victory of the season live tonight.

Those pesky walls sure can get in the way of your fist when your pissed off.

MORE: Kyle Petty, driver of the #45 Wells Fargo/Marathon/Tire Kingdom Dodge suffered a broken hand as a result of hitting the butt of his hand on a door inside the hauler after a lap 69 incident in Sunday's Centurion Boats at The Glen at the 2.45-mile Watkins Glen International road course. Petty was treated and released in the infield care center during Sunday's event. Petty flew back to his home in North Carolina where he was treated by a doctor who determined that the hand was broken. (Moore Consulting Group PR)

It's kind of funny. My first reaction is that I thought it was kind of funny, but only because he will be fine to race this week.

Of course, I like Kyle. If it had been Tony Stewart or one of the Busch brothers I would say it was an immature thing to do. Kind of strange huh?

I wonder if Paul Andrews being relieved of his duties has anything to do with this.

My question is: Lap 69? I don't remember seeing Kyle after lap one when I thought they said he drove right into pit road after the start?
