Kyle Petty comments about a driver during his TNT Sabbatical: "A couple of guys are really good choices, and guys are calling and wanting to know what we're going to do and we really don't know yet. That was kind of the way we planned it. Just like I said at Daytona, there might be guys out here in the garage area that are fired by the time we get there that would be great for two races or one race or five races. We're really not any closer to that than we were."(Clear!Blue/Dodge Motorsports PR)(4-1-2007)
UPDATE: John Andretti, Jon Wood and Ken Schrader have emerged as possible candidates to fill in for Kyle Petty in June and July when he takes a break from driving to be an analyst for TNT's Nextel Cup broadcasts. Petty, whose previous television work has been widely praised, plans to work with the TNT crew for five races. Petty Enterprises Vice President Robbie Loomis said the team continues to evaluate choices. "A lot of questions come into play," he said. "Do you go with a guy like Bill Elliott or a guy who's been in Busch or truck? He [Jon Wood] is somebody we've talked about. Our relationship with the Wood guys has always been good, but the bottom line is we have to see some results on the track from these guys."(SceneDaily.com)(jayski.com)

Looks like it would be a chance to give somebody they think has potential a chance to work with them and see how they work out. At least be able to see if the work good with the team and BL. I still wish that Kyle would hand over the car to somebody else. I believe he could far better honor Adam by doing that than just filling a seat each week. The guy is awful nice and could do a good job in the booth and probably help VJ even more.

I couldn't agree more !!!
Listening to Kyle in the booth is refreshing and Kyle is clearly candid yet non-confrontational or insulting when discussing others and their ability or errors.

Hopefully, Kyle will do the announcing as a steady thing. Kyle Petty is #1 in my book, in every way !!!!!!

I like Kyle too. I was always a Petty fan. When Richard retired I tried pulling for Kyle but it just wasn't the same. I don't feel Kyle has always had his heart in racing, not like Richard did anyway. Maybe he would be better off in broadcasting.

Pretty hard to live up to a reputation of a Dad like Richard. I also like Kyle and think he is a heck of a guy.

Kyle is special and his big heart shows that. His announcing skills are first class. He is certainly no JAWS, and that's why I believe he'll do well.
