Kyle Petty's post race comments

It was nice to see Kyle being interviewed after the race. It looked like he was on his way to a top 10 finish until he ran out of gas on the last lap. He had some pretty strong words for his engine people, but he seemed very fair about it. He said that in the beginning of the year the cars were pretty bad. But that they got that straightened out and now the engines are just not good enough. He gave then credit last year when they were good and I think that gives him the credibility to call them on it when they suck. Right now, the engines suck. He is just calling a spade a spade. I also like what he said when they asked him if it was hard being an owner and a driver. He said (in so many words) "No, it is actually easier. I can get in the car and mash the engine and know that it is junk. I don't have to rely on a driver's interpretation". That makes a lot of sense to me.
 
I didn't hear about Kyle allegedly holding the engine builder up against the fence as reported by Jayski though. :unsure:
 
I'd say he was just a tad bit upset about 2 of his cars missing the race ;)

Surprising to read that tho, never thought that Kyle was that kind of a guy...
 
Well... he's got the $$$, so why dont he go out and get some new engine builders? He cant blame what went wrong on them... it happens my friend, its racing.

He also said in his interview that "you cannot just change lanes when things dont go your way" . He said that he will not be swictching builders as of now. Also, I would guess that signing ege took a large chunk of $$ and I doubt that he will waste that all away just yet....
 
I didn't listen to what he said.. I was prolly using the pisser, but all I know is PE needs to get its stuff together, or shut it down.. one or the other. Everytime a race is over... most of the PE cars are lower than 35th.

The Petty name is better than that..
 
Youve got that Right BUDSTUD. I havent seen a Petty car be competing for a win in ages. Kyle better do something quick or hes not gonna have the sponsors left to even run the team....
 
I wouldn't blame them if they all pulled out of PE. Basically, the cars are crap! John Andretti was the best driver they had, probably besides Bobby Hamilton. Atleast they could get the cars into Victory Lane. Has Kyle? Nope..
 
I couldnt believe it when they fired him. Your right, at least he has won for them and could compete to win. Fittipaldi is a joke for a replacement, and we saw it at Infinieon. We'll see how kyle likes his replacement in the coming weeks. But, at this rate, It doesnt matter whos driving since the cars are so horrific....
 
If it was up to me, I'd get rid of all the teams except for the 45 and work from there, but get Kyle out of it. Put some young gun in it.. atleast they'll make the car look a little bit better.
 
I think they need to dig way down into their pockets and come up with the money to have someone like Ernie, Yates, RCR, etc. to build engines for them. Obviously their programs arent working even with Ege. As for 1 team, it may eventually end up that way because I don't know of many sponsors that will put up with the finishes their getting. We'll see what happens in the coming months.....
 
I agree with you 4X, Kyle's word's were pretty harsh, but he also was fair about it. I would much rather have honesty out of drivers than the PC bull***t most of them are so good at dishing out.
 
Good for Kyle.Show emotion get angry,most others don't. :D
 
They definitely need to do something and fast as bad as they have been i couldnt stand to watch a race and not see the 43 or 45.
And i dont even want to think about that. I just hope they do something and fast
