Roush Racing II is under way.
I wonder if they'll give Darnell the same crappy ass cars they give Labonte and expect him to run in the top ten.
Why blame the driver? Lets face it. If Yates was such a first class organization, why did both of their cars run virtually sponsor less last year when the economy was better? Yates was washed up when both Jarrett and Sadler were running in the mid to low twenties in the points. They have gone straight downhill ever since. Hall of fame racing isn't much better. If anything, Bobby should have learned his lesson from his three years at Petty that you can't remake a poor performing team. Even Todd Parrot bailed out on Yates this year (again.) Yates is like a poor copy of Roush and that makes HOF a copy of a copy and we know how that turns out. Bobby should have signed with RCR when he had the chance.
The decision, Jones said, is neither a reflection on Labonte, nor the team. Rather, he said, it's the latest example of how teams must adapt in a difficult economy.
"There's an opportunity here, where I had races that we were on hook for, basically trying to find sponsorship for Bobby and put it together," Jones said. "And there's an opportunity with Erik to get it. We'd like to take a look at him, and Ford Racing would, too. So this is an opportunity to help fund [the team], and give Erik a chance to see if he can do his business in Sprint Cup."
I agree that he should have never left JGR. Kyle Busch is good enough of a driver to make even the sorriest crew chief, like Steve Addington, look good. Yeyley didn't go anywhere and I'm sure that when Bobby signed up with HOF he was expecting JGR quality chassis and was completely suprised.
Probably. He has a lot to think about right now. Hopefully something better will open up for him in the silly season.
First off, they didnt run "virtually sponsorless". Out of 72 combined races, they ran sponsorless for 6. Secondly, Gilliand is average at best and Kvapil is out of his league in Cup racing. Big time companies arent going to shell out money when the results wont be thereWhy blame the driver? Lets face it. How do we know the cars are crappy...Mabey Bobbys time is up.
Wow Darnell looks real impressive in that great #96 team
Bobby was running like crap when he left Gibbs...so don't go there
Well we will see tommarow if Bobby Labonte a driver that cant cut it anymore like you said can hold his own in a severly under financed team against Darnell an up and coming driver in a Robert Yates Racing car.
I think you are forgetting how many cup starts Darnell has.
