Just heard on the TV that Labron James is mad that Cleveland fired their head coach. I guess today's kids think they are the kings of the world. Already this kids thinks he has enough say so as to who will be his coach. Now that's thinking pretty high!

So he's not supposed to like a guy who let him practice with a pro team? John Lucas said having LeBron practice with his team was worth every penny of the $150,000 fine and two day suspension he got as punishment for doing so. What is young Mr James supposed to think of him? That he is a lousy coach and the Cavs could do better? Please:rolleyes:

4x, you have missed my whole point. I'm sitting here in North Carolina and get the news that a high school student is upset with the firing of a coach. What's this world coming to? Next week, it might be a middle schooler, or what about a kindergarten kid? If Labron was a player for Cleveland, or any other NBA team, I could understand the "news", but because he is just a high school kid who hasn't even finished high school, I don't understand the "news" aspect of it.

The news aspect of it is simple. LeBron James is rapidly becoming a household name. And the media people who complain about it are the same people who are perpetuating it. The kid will be the first pick in the NBA draft this year. There is virtually no doubt about that. I'm also reasonably certain that he will be the first high schooler ever selected with the first round pick. Therefore, he is newsworthy. I do agree that they are taking the whole thing a bit too far though. It was a huge story the last few weeks that his mom took out a loan on his future earnings and bought him a brand-new decked-out Hummer. What difference that makes, I have no idea. But, the talking-heads just had to weigh in on the subject.

4xer, speaking of the Hummer and the loan by his mother, do you know what she does for a living? I mean I do know that if I went to get a loan for that much, I'd be really strapped to get the loan and my wife and I make a pretty comfortable living. If she is from big money, it wouldn't be a story, but if she is a single mother and working as a secretary, teacher, or another white collar job, or is she married and they both have pretty good jobs? The timing of getting the car is very suspect. BTW, Labron's team played one of our local HS teams the other day in Greensboro. His tem whupped the crap out of the local team. I know the local kids were tickled to death to be able to play against him.

Actually his mom is an unemployed single-mother who had to have him live with one of his coaches families quite a bit when he was younger because she claims she couldn't even afford to feed him. Quite a few bad choices in her life. He never knew his birth father until he started becoming famous. The sperm donor now wants to be in his life (of course), but LeBron has enough sence to tell him. "If you weren't around when we really needed you, don't come around now". His "surrogate father", the mom's most consistent boyfriend was just convicted on some sort of mortgage fraud charges and will be celling up with "Bubba the Love Sponge" for the next few years. The only reason she got the loan, from what I understand, was because she basically has a guarantee from Nike or Adidas that they will both offer him over $20 million to sign to wear their shoes as soon as he declares for the NBA Draft. I'm not sure about the logistics of it, but that's basically it.

Just as I thought. What would happen if he were to slip and break his ankle? The point is he is already being treated as a pro and that he's not.

Don't think for a minute that there isn't an insurance policy or two in place for just such an event. I'm not crazy about the pro treatment either, but there are a large amount of people making a very large amount of money off of him already. So, I think if he gets a few of the spoils now it is only fair.

I don't think the hummer deal is a big deal. anyone close to athletics knows this kid has insurance out on him. So the Mother got the loan, because there's no risk for her, or for the bank. And since this is the kids money, why not let him spend some of it?

As far as James upset about the coach being fired, I think James is starting to show his age a bit. I've been very impressed with him so far, however I think he really should keep his mouth shut. I understand loyalty to a coach, but I hope this is just disappointment and he'll realize his mistake. I'd hate to see him become another Elway, Kosar, Marbury guy.

A reporter from the plain dealer was on ESPN news today. He said he was hereing that James very well could be going #2 now in the draft.

In actuallity, draft order is a little hard to predict when you don't even know what teams will be drafting where yet. I would bet he goes #1, but if the team picking #1 desperately needs a big man and the guy they like is there I could see it going that way.
