Saturday night, “The Lady in Green,” Danica Patrick, driver of the green No.10 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet, will meet “The Lady in Black” for the very first time when she competes in the Bojangles’ Southern 500 Sprint Cup race at Darlington.
Patrick, who has never been to Darlington, will also compete in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race Friday night at the 1.366-mile oval before competing in just her second-ever Sprint Cup race the next night.

Good article the rest is here: http://www.catchfence.com/2012/spri...ck-the-lady-in-green-meets-the-lady-in-black/

If she gets through the race less than 2 down, I'll be impressed. I don't know what Tony was thinking when he made her schedule, but he sure made it tough for her.

I think that was the idea. She needs time on those tracks before her move to Cup.

I guess Tony knows what he's doing, but my thought is that she needs time in a CUP car before hitting the really tough tracks. Darlington, and even Charolette, can humble experienced drivers. I hope she's mentally tough enough to handle the outcome.

I agree with FB. It is a tough 10 CUP Race schedule for Miss Thang. But if she wants to move up to CUP, a move that I don't think would be a wise one, she should know what she is in for! Daytona, Darlington, Bristol Night Race (500 freaking laps), Charlotte (600 freaking miles), Dover, Texas, Phoenix, Chicago, Atlanta plus one more TBA. That's tough by any standard!

A tip of the cap has to be given to Ruti for keeping the 10 car in the Top 35 - so far, anyway!

Talk about being thrown in the deep end of the pool. This will be a real tough weekend for Danica .

As mentioned, they purposely chose the toughest tracks for her schedule. Although she will very likely struggle a great deal this weekend, she will also learn a great deal.

IMO, it's a dangerous game. She could end up with her confidence in tatters and a bunch of Cup regulars really pissed off. I hope her goal is to just bring it home in one piece. Pushing foward to get some spots could get ugly.

Then again, I'm just a guy with a lot of opinions.

Really , I can see both sides of the argument. If they are using this year to give her some experience , it won't help if she just races the banked 1 1/2 milers .She has done that before . She really needs to see the worst of what she is going to deal with next year . If they are trying to build confidence, that's another story.

It'll be a good challenge for her. I think the biggest thing for her especially after last week is keeping her emotions in check. It''s a tight racing line. She's gonna get bumped and she'll get a Darlington stripe for sure. She's has to realize it's a product of the racing there. The best of the best will do the same. I kind of like the toughness of her schedule, it's a wide variety of tracks for just 10 races. I think the idea there was to identify the weak points so she's not taken back by visiting the tough spots when she goes full time. She's got to realize that nobody expects her to go out and win races this year, it's all about the seat time. It used to be in NASCAR that rookies were impressive if they stayed out of trouble and completed the laps, now people expect them to win in high profile rides. I think this hurts drivers confidence more than anything. Experience and seat time cannot be taught.

Cause her in a cup ride next year is a great move, right? For go daddy maybe. And the body shop at SHR.

Really, I never thought of you as a guy with that much to say? ;)

Ah , the male chauvinist ,anti Danica crap . Big weekend for you coming up I think , MoJo . Have at it .

She's a seasoned veteran when it comes to big time racing so I doubt her confidence will take any hits. Plus she's very smart is good at seeing the big picture.

Considering what Stewart had to say about Ragan after Roush tossed him into the Martinsville foray, it's somewhat surprising that he'd put Patrick on these tough tracks. She'll get lots of media attention, though, and that's what it's all about.

Obviously she's going to have a tough time here this weekend. It took veterans of the sport time to master this track let alone someone who is just getting into a Cup car for the first time @ the track. Finishing this race on the track has got to be her goal. Good luck to her. I'll be rooting for her.

What track do you think Danica will have more trouble at this year, Darlington or when she runs at Eldora Speedway for Tony Stewart's Prelude to the Dream?

Darlington.

Oh ****, I just realized that with the Lady in Green, Lady in Black hooplah used, DW will use Danica, Darlington's Darling :D

How about Danica, Darlingtons featherless dart? I would like to see DW try to say that 3 times fast.
