NASCAR reinstates LaJoie: UPDATE: NASCAR has reinstated crew member Randy LaJoie upon his successful completion of a counseling program following his June 22 suspension for violating the sanctioning body's substance abuse policy.(NASCAR)(8-25-2010)
UPDATE: Statement from LaJoie: "I am thankful to NASCAR for reinstating me for competition, and grateful to my friends and family who supported me through this time," said Randy LaJoie, who was suspended on June 22, 2010, for violation of NASCAR's drug policy. "This has been a tremendous learning and growing process for me, and I have come through it a stronger, better person. I am looking forward to returning to work, and continuing to prove to NASCAR, my colleagues, my family and my friends that this was an isolated incident that I have put behind me." LaJoie will continue to lead the Joie of Seating, the seat design business he founded, and the Safer Racer Tour, a non-profit organization that was designed to help reach out to the auto racers many feel are most at risk; the numerous short track drivers around the country.(LaJoie PR)(8-25-2010)

Why do they not bring up the fact that Randy was a two-time Nationwide (was Busch)champion? Is it because of how scandalous that it would seem to have a past champion hitting the bong? Weird to me, but I guess I'm glad the pot head said his I'm sorry's and did his 30 days in the rehab. :sarcasm:

I'd rather see someone in NASCAR that smokes a doob once in a while than the stiff corporate spokesmen that come from the same mold.

:sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm:

So LaJoie goes through NASCAR's substance abuse program and gets reinstated to the sport after two months? I wonder what Mayfield thinks after reading that news? :rolleyes:

if Mayfly wasn't such an ass all the BS wouldn't have happened.
Admit it and move on i hate people that are full of excuses

Probably cause Randy isnt driving or doesnt have any immediate plans of driving. Or atleast non that ive heard of. I wonder if the rest of the crew members you hear getting suspended for this are back too but you dont hear them cause they are not names.

I like that Randy Lajoie took responsibility right from the very beginning, paid his dues, went through the program and was reinstated. He showed how it supposed to be done. I sure can't say whether it was a one time thing or a long term deal but he is going to be under close scrutiny for years to come. There was a very interesting interview with him on SNR in which he said that he sure found out who his friends are through this ordeal. While he doesn't race anymore, he sure lost a lot over that incident. ESPN, SNR, tarnished rep with his seat company. It'll be interesting to see how that all works out for him with his reinstatement.

I'm not sure why he was tested anyway.He doesn't drive or go over the wall. Spotting is a borderline occupation. Are they testing reporters too?

Back in 2000-20001 when I worked for a team I had to sign a paper agreeing to a drug test. It was a Nascar thing and not a team paper.

And I only worked in the shop, did show cars and occasionally went to the track to catch tires.

From what I was able to find the Drivers & Crews are tested. Drivers should be obvious. Crews include "over-the-wall" crew members, the crew chief, car chief, team members responsible for tires, fuel and pit crew operation, spotters and race-day support personnel that includes engineers, engine tuners, shock specialists, chassis specialists and tire specialists.

Nothing about reporters but I'd guess the networks have their own policy on that.

Spotter need to be on their toes the whole race. I can see it now:

"hey, ummm, dude. There's like this thing...somewhere up there, where ike, these two cars, like did something....maybe, like, you should do something too dude..."

(translated: Wreck in 4, go low!!")

Back from suspension & back on SNR. He just came on the radio @ 11:00am as co-host of 'The Backstretch'.
