Lappy and the Monster trucks

BIGFOOT 5 was completed in the summer of 1986 for the sole purpose of handling the 10 foot tall Firestone Tundra tires. The tires were originally used on an Alaskan land train that was used during the construction of the Alaskan pipeline in the 1950's. Before they were permanently installed on BIGFOOT 5, they had been used by BIGFOOT 1, 2, & 4. Its first show was the Fall Jamboree in Indianapolis where it donned dual 10' tires, making it the tallest, widest and heaviest pickup in the world!
 
Is that street legal lappy?:p That would be a great truck for parking on lovers lane.:D

How much Armor All does it take to shine the tires?
 
Oh, so we have monster truck fans here.

Here's a couple I took at the Bloomsburg, Pa 4-Wheel Summer Jamboree in the past.
 
well compare it to bigfoot #1 it is. olny differnce is the tires.

Are you close to Indianapolis (Indy) as far as reasonable driving time?

I think tires such as those were used to traverse the tundra and ice of Alaska's north slope during oil exploration in the 50's but the pipeline was not constructed until the late 70's along with a new road.

Built in the summer of 1986, BIGFOOT 5 remains the tallest (15 feet-plus), the widest (20 feet) and the heaviest (38,000 lbs) pickup truck in the world.

"When we first started, everyone wanted to be the biggest, so I though that I would settle the question once and for all," says Bob matter-of-factly. For help with this definitive pickup, Bob turned to the US military — salvaging four 120 x 48 x 68 inch Firestone tires that had been part of a special operations tundra vehicle stationed in Alaska during WWII. Each tire weighs 2400 lbs.

When Bob first discovered the wheels in a Seattle junkyard, they were priced at an exorbitant $30,000. Three years later — seeing that the market for these monstrosities was indeed a limited one — the junkyard owner let Bob have them at a grand apiece.

That's not bad. There's a Jamboree held in Indy in September that you'd probably like. I've been there twice but it's a 14 hour ride for me. It's held by Special Events and has tons of show trucks, mud racing, monster truck racing, etc.
 
I am not sure if the Jamboree will happen this year? There is a commerical talkign about how the only time to see Monster trucks this year is Febuary something.
 
That's most likely indoors. I asure you that Indy in September will be held. It's the largest Special Event Series jamboree. One in PA is second. That's in July. I'll be there!
 
I've seen a monster truck show once. They weren't as big as I imagined them, but still fun to watch. They used the derby cars from the previous event. It was a great time.

They are hard to find though. You have to know where to look for them.
