Benevolent One
Team Owner
I have no doubt that he is the best receiver in the league and he certainly deserves to paid like it. This seems like an awful lot of money to pay a guy who touches the ball less than 10 times a game on average, though. Of course, his presence on the field gives the Cardinals offense a completely different look and opposing defenses have to respect him and, therefore, that helps the whole offense.
It's great to see a big time athlete re-sign with his current team! If this were baseball, he would simply be waiting until the end of his current contract to sign with the Yankees or Red Sox. True revenue sharing like they have in the NFL is how you can have teams like the Packers compete for, and even win, Super Bowls. Teams from all over the country, except Detroit and Washington DC maybe , can honestly feel like they have a chance of winning a championship in football. That is a great thing for the league and at least part of why it is the most popular sport, by far, in the country. You'd think MLB and the NBA would see that, and figure out how to make that happen in their sports.
