Let me preface this with, I am not a Jeff Gordon Fan in any way, but, I do have respect for him in his driving abilities, I dislike his whining and inability to admit he is wrong in some instances, like at Texas.

What Newman did to Larson was pure chicken**** ! The young rookie raced everyone clean all day and then a have a seasoned driver, on purpose, side slam him into the wall, is just plain wrong.

Then Newman had the nerve to say in an interview he hoped the kid would understand he had to do it! That is not racing your way in at all.

I wonder if Newman would have done the same to Ambrose had Ambrose not gotten around Larson? I am betting he would not have because he would know Ambrose would have knocked him on his ass after the race.

I hope Larson gives him his payback at Homestead, but, I know he want, because he is not going to interfere with 3 contending drivers and one ****head, (Newman), trying for the chase championship.

I was surprised the Newman even had the chance to door slam Larson after Larson passed him. I didn't like the move but if I'm in that position, I do the same thing. Integrity and clean racing is great and all but it doesn't give you the most $$$

That's supposed to be the difference between stock car racing and open wheel. Newman pulled a beautiful 8 tire turn. Hell, I would enjoy seeing that move to win it all at Homestead.

That's what I like about the new format, When in the old format would you have seen such hard racing for 11th place at Phoenix? Hate it for Larson though, but I think he might have done a little of this while he was coming up through the ranks. Hope he gets that 1st win at Homestead.

Moving somebody out of the way and slamming him into a wall is two totally different things, had he moved him, fine, slamming him into the wall, bull****!
I liked what I saw. Newman did what he had to do to make the final race. #bigthumbsupfromme

Shoot, I'm sorry. I guess I had already posted that. :D

Newman didn't do anything wrong while making that pass, he could've really "rattled" his cage if he wanted too. The more I read in these very pages the less I see where this sport has come from and I don't like what some folks want it to be. It ain't slot-car racing folks, and if that's what you want go find the nearest Boys & Girls Clubs they may still have tracks set up.

I'm a Larson fan, but don't fault Newman for the move at all. I do, however, still have a problem with the two people that had the most wins and them most points, who hapened to finish 2nd and 4th, being booted from the chase by a driver with no wins, simply by finishing in 11th. Fustercluck.

Great point, I have never seen a race covered so well because of the chasers being sprinkled thru the field.

I'm having so much fun every single week this year. I love Kyle Larson but that move to get into the final four was flat-out badass. Reminds me of the semi-feature when you need to get fourth to transfer to the A Main.

Can't do it in sprint cars, but you can do it in our cars!

C'mon, it wasn't like Newman drove Larson all the way to the wall. Honestly, I was surprised that Larson wasn't able to keep it off the wall.

Larson was holding Newman back, Newman's bump was a way of saying "thanks a**hole".

I guess I see why Newman moved him out of the way, still is a dirty move in my opinion. What irritates me about is when Ryan said in his interview "well he did the same thing to me in a truck at eldora" like really? That's your excuse? That race was completely irrelevant and he was only there to do one thing, and that was win. And it's a freakin dirt track I mean come on.

I'm done ranting.

Newman saw the whole season Carrot that was hanging out there and he grabbed it. Newman has done more with less this year than any of them have that are in the chase. Many of the "experts" on here had written him off this year, and I am one who didn't think he had a snowball's chance in hell of making it to the final four. To say he hasn't earned a spot or a championship if he does pull it off is ludicrous IMO.

It's racing.

I was mad at Newman for this move! He should know Larson is on my fantasy NASCAR team!!! I don't think Larson felt it was a big deal. If he did, instead of driving away from Newman, he could have drove right back down into him and wrecked them both and Newman out. In the end though, hearing Newman finishing in that spot meant Gordon was out, made my day.

It wasn't the cleanest move that's for sure - but I would be lying if I said I wouldn't have done something similar if it was my last chance.

Kyle Larson.....

“It's a little upsetting he pushed me up to the wall, but I completely understand the situation he was in, and can't fault him for being aggressive there. I think a lot of drivers out here would have done something similar if they were in that position."

from here

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Newman is one race away from his first championship . Hope he wrecks a couple next week and wins it all. That's what used to happen back in the day.
