SOFTER left side tires for Lost Wages …

NASCAR Cup Series — Race No. 5 – 267 laps / 400.5 miles
Las Vegas Motor Speedway (1.5-mile oval) – Las Vegas, Nev.
Fast Facts for March 15-16, 2025
Tire: Goodyear Eagle 18-inch Speedway Radials

Set limits: Cup: 1 set for practice, 1 set for qualifying and 9 sets for the race (8 race sets plus 1 set transferred from qualifying).

Tire codes: Left-side — D-5184; Right side — D-5222

Tire Circumference: Left side — 2,263 mm (89.09 in.); Right-side — 2,277 mm (89.65 in.)

Minimum Recommended Inflation: Left Front — 20 psi; Left Rear — 22 psi; Right Front — 50 psi; Right Rear — 46 psi

Notes – Left-side tire change for Cup cars at Las Vegas:Being on the 18-inch bead diameter tire, NASCAR Cup teams will run a different tire set-up than those in the Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series at Las Vegas this weekend . . . this is the same right-side tires that Cup teams ran twice at Las Vegas last season . . . this is a different left-side tire code than Cup teams ran at this track last season (compound change for more tire wear and lap-time fall-off) . . . Cup teams ran this same tire set-up on the Charlotte oval, Darlington and Homestead last season… with this 18-inch tire, and its lower profile sidewall, Cup cars do not run inner liners in any of their tires.

Goodyear quote – Stu Grant, Goodyear’s general manager of global race tires: “Generally speaking, the track surface at Las Vegas does not produce a lot of tire wear on its own. We have worked over the past several seasons at designing out tires to wear more, and we have made a change to the left-side for this weekend’s Cup race to do just that. Wear is an important part of racing in that it allows the tires to run ‘cooler’ and produce more fall-off over the course of a run.”

one of my favorite tracks on the calendar, everything feels bigger in Vegas. Hopefully one year soon, this is the track that will host the NASCAR Championship-Bowl
