are their any current laws by states (or federal) regarding race tracks and safety? i live in louisiana, and their are currently no laws regarding tracks and safety, we are lobbying our representatives to change that. we have had a guy killed and the track has no insurance, no fire rescue equipment (volunteer fire dept came out), no ambulance, etc. another track last year had a guy get a severe head trauma in an accident, they also have no insurance, no fire rescue team, and an ambulance that is not permitted in that parish therefore can not administer anything more than first aid, and they arent allowed to transport, we had to wait an hour and half for the fire department, emt, and "real" ambulance to arrive. it was some ordeal. do you have any suggestions for us, and are their currently any laws in other states that we can use as precedents? thanks cindy

A track with no Insurance can lose everything in a lawsuit, especially if negligence is proved. Most Lawers can prove negligence if no emergency equipment or personell is provided.

The Drivers themselves are partly to blame. If you pull to a track that has no Fire or Medical and unload your car then you are accepting the risks. Best bet don't unload, tell the promoater why then go home or to another track. It doesn't take more than a couple of weeks to get the point across to Promoters, most can't stand a loss of revenue for two or three weeks in a row. The Drivers are the answer, they are the ones providing the entertainment and putting themsleves at the most risk.

BIG IF"S, If Fire and Rescue are close by and the track has trained personell and some equipment, it isn't necessary for a Fire truck or Ambulance to be at the track, but it would still be nice to see them there.

By the way, with no Insurance, Lawsuits work for both the Drivers and Fans. It's a hell of a risk that Promoter is taking.

Something needs to be changed, but I hate to add the Govt into anything.
