Is this a sport or an MTV special? Come on FOX, we don't need your sensationalism.

They keep saying stuff like, "Stewart will lead a star studded field" tomorrow at Daytona. Or, "Check us out tomorrow for all your favorite stars!".

Last I checked they were drivers, not celebrities.

They are drivers first but some NASCAR drivers are also celebrities according to the dictionary.

Celebrity

A famous person.
Renown; fame.

ce·lebri·ty·hood n.

Synonyms: celebrity, hero, luminary, name, notable, personage
These nouns refer to a widely known person: a social celebrity; the heroes of science; a theatrical luminary; a big name in sports; a notable of the concert stage; a personage in the field of philosophy.
