You joined this month and have 50 posts?

Sorry, but I've never seen your posts on here before. Anyways, welcome to the nuthouse! :beerbang:

I dont crochet, mainly because it's girly.

So make me something. Maybe some socks.:beerbang:

And maybe a new checked shirt for Andy:D

My wife knits and crochets. Its really amazing to watch, "string" goes in, sweaters and stuff come out.

She makes hats and booties with her left overs and they go to the hospital for the premies

I remember my grandma used to make everything it seemed by crocheting. Bedspreads, house shoes, all kind of things. I swear she could have constructed the Space Shuttle out of yard.

My mother knits.

She made my 21-month-old a blanket when she was born. My daughter can't go to sleep without it, and if we go somewhere and forgot it, it's a dire emergency. We'll actually turn around, and go back and get it. It's that important.

I'm sure i'm a lot slower than your wives and mothers. It's gonna take me a year to make this lap blanket. :p

Dare I even ask what a 'lap blanket' is? In case your lap alone gets cold?:p

A lap blanket is a small blanket, silly, not a full sized one. i can't start out with a big project, i'll get impatient.

Men and humor.

My mom takes her sweet time with her knitting. She does it between commercial breaks on her favorite shows. The blanket she made my daughter took her about 6 months to make this way. She also makes hats and gloves.

Funny thing is she knitted for a long time. She made some of my first blankets when I was little. Then she stopped, and just picked it up again now that she's a grandma.

It's definately not an old woman thing. I know friends who are in their 30s and make good money running knitting businesses via websites out of their homes.

OH thank god, i'm glad it's not an old woman thing.

i've wanted to learn it for years and didn't think i was quick enough or smart enough.

As a youth, long ago, my mother insisted that both my brother and myself were totally self sufficient. We learned the household arts. I personally can sew by hand or machine, darn a sock, crochet and knit. We learned to cook, at the very least well enough to survive on. The only thing I was ever restrained from was laundry. My first and only attempt was ... expensive. When the machine was fixed, I was barred from the laundry room for life. My wife has maintained that tradition. I get the 3rd degree just for taking a pair of socks out of the drier.

While I haven't crocheted or knitted actively since my voice broke, I did teach both my wife and daughter how to do it.

I heard Andy uses a lap blanket so as not to scare the cat.

OMG... I am busting a gut here trying not to laugh hysterically and have my husband think I've lost my mind... well, lost it more. ROFLMAO!!!!!!!

Uh Andy - Who reset your number of posts? I mean you post to yourself for hours at times. I know you have more than 650 or whatever the number was. Oh... is it like an odometer and it can only go so high and it resets? hehehehe ;) :D

I can't knit or crochet but I do sew, cook, laundry and other domestic stuff.

I'm beginning to worry about you. When people start getting my humor they need help. Serious help... :D

No chit! I've been worried about myself for a long time. I've been laughing at your humor for way too long already.

Oh yeah on topic <ahem> I learned how to crochet in high school. Did it more then than later. I tried making a baby blanket and got a couple inches of rows for each kid. Figured I might finish it when a grandkid comes around. LOL I've tried to learn to knit and I can only manage the single stitch and not the purl stuff that makes things look good. The yarn always falls off the needles when I try that. So I have a stupid looking scarf that my son will wear just cuz he loves me. LOL :D

OK, that's weird. I didn't know we could switch numbers if we made up new user names to mess w/other people. ;)
