Left sides first?

Just now seeing the qualifying highlights. I like the no speed limit rule.

But why left sides first? I thought the idea was to have the crew on the safe side and not have to wait for the airhose? Although seems most had to wait on the rear tire changer or jackman...

Teams where just trying to something different, I forget the reason why tho , but it was mentioned, left sides first wont be coming to a PPR anytime soon.

I think they said something about saving some time if they didn't need to carry the right side tires across and over the pit wall if they started with the left sides first. Not sure how much time it really saved.

Left side pit stops were faster because the teams could NOT go over the wall before the car was stopped IN THE BOX. Hitting the left side first was almost a second faster.
