Mikey misses another one! How long will NAPA stay. As a side note, I think Brad Parrott could do wonders for that team!

No, I think it is about time the bashing ends.

What is it with you folks that you enjoy kicking someone when they are down.

Grow up!

Yeah i was going to say something along your lines.

I'm by no means a Michael Waltrip fan at all but i feel bad for the guy.

For once i was kind of hoping he gets him now that Dale Jarret ran out of luck with his provisionals.

It is time to cool it with the Mikey bashing.

I feel sorry for Mikey. Toyota has to do something or they will lose all of their sponsors.

Sorry? You feel sorry for the guy?

Mikey has hung around this sport strickly on his name for years! With him not on the track we are getting to see younger guys that MAY have a future in racing... he never has.
He is showing his ability this year. From the getgo he has shown his stuff as it really is.
Betsy:rolleyes:

I don't see where the first two posts in this thread are in anyway bashing Waltrip.

It's news when Waltrip misses a race. Same as it news when Gordon appears on TV with Kelly Ripa, Busch gets his ears pinned or DEJr takes a dump.

In fact, I rather enjoy coming to the site and seeing a few threads that AREN'T about Gordon getting married to a model, Gordon knocks up the model, Gordon isn't happy with #48, Gordon suckers Kenseth, Gordon buys a new house or any of the other Gordon this Gordon that crap.

Wow, I thought for sure the vultures would be circling Mikeys bloated carcass. My title was a tongue and cheek job at some of the Mikey bashers on the board.
Glad to see the bashing hasen't happened.

Well as a reminder to everyone NASCAR chat is devoted to NASCAR racing and the drivers and crew who participate in such. There should be no driver bashing.
Now if you want to talk Mikey maybe one of the other forums would be more appropriate... ;)

I like your little duck BP

It's part of my move to change my avatar at least daily if not more often since so many people pay attention to my avatar. I guess that's better than them paying too much attention to what I say.

Naw, it is best if people not pay attention to what another says about you, or what they say about any others for that matter. :)

It's just that people have been going after Mikey since the 500, all has pretty much been covered.

May i ask... Who are you looking for in your avatar? lol

In answer to Betsy, I don't feel sorry for Mikey the driver. I've never felt that he was any more than a mediocre driver, at best.

I feel sorry for Michael the owner who has poured his heart and soul into his teams, and is getting his head handed to him on a plate.

Simplest thing.

You dont want to read then dont come into the threads about Gordon.

Because last i checked, this is a public board.

Why don you post your own stories about your driver Patrick?

The trick is getting replies..Gordon's seen to get hits. Then again that is what might be bothering you.

Not going to bash but I would say how embarrased must Michael Waltrip be? He again missed the race but a underfunded team with thier first start in Cup made it in using a Toyota, Johnny Benson and Wyler Racing.

I think that Truck team has a better understanding on the COT then most might think. Read that story from NASCAR on Toyota in this thread and it make sense why they could just waltz right in a make the race. Maybe this will wake up the Cup teams and get them to start working together like the truck teams do now.

First, Michael is not, in my opinion, unlucky.

The simple fact of the matter, Michael is NOT a businessman.
Michael has given reason to show he has not got the businessman ability necessary since starting his team. Michael is only one stepping stone in a list of potential meltdowns, as Toyota made a mistake funding Waltrip's effort as a fledgling team in the NEXTEL NASCAR SERIES.
My guess, Toyota was looking at a spokesperson and figured if they got Michael, a sponsors dream type personality, they might kill two birds with one stone.
So far, neither party has much to brag about or advertise and it goes beyond "growing pains". It all boils down to the kind of businessman the team owner is.

Darrel Waltrip tried to travel the same road many years ago (although it seems as if were only yesterday) owning his own team and after a few years of less than stellular finishes, nearly put himself in dire financial straits.

Both Michael and Darrell are great personalities for a sponsor but leave the impression they suck at being self-employed. And they are not the only ones as there is a long list of those drivers who tried the simgle team (and multi team) approach with little success.

There are races where Michael might have qualified had it not been for the provisional positions given to the top thirty-five.
Easy solution is to let ALL starting positions depend on time and send the slow cars home even if they include JGordon, DEarnhardt, TStewart, KKhane to name a few of the more popular drivers.

Sadly, or perhaps, competitiveness has reached greater levels timing these days is no longer a matter of one-tenth of a second but more like one-one-hundredth or one-one-thousandth, making qualifying a real gamble.

As to sponsors and the high dollars they pay, seems like some pretty high dollar teams are sent packing each week so who is getting the bast deal ?? The teams in the top thirty-five, including those who are not at the top of their game that week, yet they keep on keeping on.

Whiz, I agree with you on this one. And it might be high time that NASCAR shucked the 35 top points guaranteed starting spots. When they started that idea, there were less high dollar teams (sponsorship) than there are now. There were plenty of what they called field fillers, but these days, even the field fillers come from teams that are very good. Only a year ago, we would see Morgan Shepherd make the field for a race, only to run a few laps and drop out. Morgan has absolutely no chance at making a Cup race today and has serious problems making a Busch race. But back to the situation with Michael, I think that he just needs to either turn over the team to someone else and just concentrate on his driving, or get out of that seat and let someone else do the driving.

He should of never came in with 3 teams that was his biggest mistake, had he come in with just 2 i think he would of done much better. Then maybe try a third car for a few races towards the end of the season.
