Lifetime Suspension

I guess the fool has been trying to see life thru a haze. I just don't care anymore.

That's too bad that he can't kick his demons. Hopefully he'll keep trying, otherwise he's on a crach course to didaster.

"kick his demons"? What the hell is that all about? Doing or NOT doing is all about self control! Just say NO! That is what self control is... Biting your nails and smoking cigarettes are examples of ones control over ones self. We all say no every day to different things in our life.
Most of us would rather have our wits about us at all times and so we stay sober. Demons ain't got nuthin to do with it!

Rumor from some of my friends in racing say it is crystal meth. That is some major nasty stuff.

I hope Shane is able to kick the stuff, but it is not going to be easy.

I knew and was close to someone with that habit. Man that is some really bad stuff. It effects the brain and wears it out. You go back to it just to feel normal. Off of it you get depressed, mood swings, I mean man that is one of the worst.

that sucks man.....who cares if he races again...i just hope he can get off of the stuff.

After failing a third substance abuse test, driver Shane Hmiel has been banned for life by the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing. Hmiel was first suspended in 2003 for failing a random drug test; he completed a rehabilitation program and was reinstated in 2004.

But his sobriety didn't last long.

Last fall, at Dover, Hmiel was acting erratically, prompting NASCAR to subject him to a random drug test. The 26-year-old son of former crew chief Steve Hmiel was ejected from that race track and suspended after the test came back positive.

Hmiel was working towards a reinstatement in 2007 by following strict guidelines NASCAR had mandated he follow. They included rehab, psychological reviews and random drug tests.

It was during one of those tests that Hmiel's results came back positive, prompting the lifetime ban. The young driver had been running the USAC circuit attempting to revive his struggling racing career.

Hmiel made seven Nextel Cup starts, 83 Busch Series starts and 29 Craftsman Truck Series starts. Despite his promise, he has just one win which came at Las Vegas in the truck series.

Hmiel has long been rumored by garage insiders to have a 'crystal meth' habit - the most powerful form of illegal speed. It is known to cause depression, anxiety, delusions and psychosis with long term use.

Crystal Meth is a very pure, smokeable form of methamphetamine. It is an extremely addictive stimulant and causes excessive anger in its users. It was some of Hmiel's sketchy behavior and outbursts on the race track that raised red flags for people in the NASCAR garage.

After an incident on track last year at Bristol with Dale Jarrett, Hmiel gave a TV interview where he was slurring his speech, stepping on his words and highly erratic.

At this point I don't think drugs are more important..he probably has no choice as his addiction is so strong. I wish him good luck, he's got a very long uphill battle.

Yeah but nobody put a gun to his head and told him to become addicted. He did it of his own free will.

Very true----but peer pressure can be and is a powerful force. Sometimes the pressure of "life" leads you to try to escape. Once addicted the free will no longer exists. I can't say what or who determined his free will first choice to do drugs, but at this point he has lost control.

From what I understant, Crystal Meth is one of the very MOST addictive drugs out there. One time trying, and you're hooked! Crack is next. An aquaintance spent 2 years in jail after being busted while on meth....it made him combative, ran from police, and when they caught him, he tried to assault the police. 2 years in jail, psycological help, losing his wife and child and everything dear to him, and now he's on the straight and narrow path to recovery. He will NEVER be allowed to see his child until said child is 18.
Is it worth it for just a little "high"?
