like and hate

I like Ward Burton, Jeff Burton, Terry Labonte, and Ricky Craven, because they are great people as well as a great drivers, and I could go on and on and on, so... :)

I dont like the BODINES because of all the wrecks they have caused over the years... <_<

I like:

Ryan Newman-Great fellow Hoosier driver and he's a Boilermaker!)
Jeff Gordon- I've been a Jeff fan for about 8 years.
Sterling Marlin- Have meet him a few times and he's one of the nicest people in WC

Jamie McMurray- Great personality and very funny.
Dave Blaney- Love my WoO guys!
Matt Kenseth- Very down to earth guy
Casey Atwood- Could be great in right equipment
Kurt Busch- By far my favorite Ford driver, very aggresive driver

Can't stand:

Tony Stewart- Way to many reasons to list
Robby Gordon- Attitude problem
Jimmie Johnson (I know, a JG fan that hates JJ??...BUT YEAH!)
Steve Park -Takes out to many good cars each week

I respect all drivers for what they do, but don't like these for certain reasons.

I like every driver EXCEPT Junior, Jeff Gordon, and Kevin Harvick. I mainly dont like Kevin or Jeff because they feel they are the crown royals of Nascar, they are too into themselves and I dont like that. Junior seems cool, but the Nascar bias has made me get sick of him.

RobbyGfan, your opinion is respected, however it is regularly contradicted by people in daily contact with the individual and the sport.
Either you have never read or chosen to ignore comments from other drivers, media people, nor have you had communication with members of different pit crews regularly in contact with Jeff Gordon. To label him as being "to much into himself", you are wrong.

The general consensus is, Jeff Gordon is one of the nicest guys in the garage and not into himself at all. The report from those who know, say he is not into himself at all and actually self-effacing.

This rebuttal to your personal opinion on someone begs the question, "have you ever met Jeff Gordon and spent time to determine whether he is "into himself" ??

Once most fans make up thier minds about a driver, it is difficult if not impossible to change it. B)

You know what, you are right, because it goes both ways. That last line in your quote is the key. Im only basing my thoughts off of Jeff Gordon from what I have seen in interviews an everything, and more often than not its the media trying to convey a driver a certain way or get them to "act the fool" at the heat of the moment.

Back to what I was saying, that last line in your quote is the key. A lot of people base their opinions of Robby when he started out in Nascar in 97 and when he made his return as driver/owner in 00. Robby has changed A LOT since then. I have always been a supporter of him way back since his was doing off road, and I can tell you that he has changed a lot since then, if you notice his improvement from the beginning of last season to this season on the track you can tell. Ive met Robby and he is one of the most down to earth guys you will meet. There are many stories that I can tell which show that he acts like one of the guys, and thats cool. But once people are set in their ways, its almost impossible to change their opinion of somebody.

Drivers I like:

Sterling Marlin- So many reasons why he is my favorite, but for the most part because he is very friendly with his fans. He even calls some of his fans on the phone from time to time to talk to them! Lucky, lucky! :)

Matt Kenseth and Ryan Newman- I just like their attitudes. Never met them, but would like to one day.

Jamie McMurray- I like the way he likes to joke around.

Ward Burton- Gotta love that accent of his :D

Too many more that I like to list, I would be here all night.

The drivers I list below, I do not hate. I just don't root for them. I respect every driver out on the track.

Jeff Gordon- For the most part , I just like to root against him to aggrevate my husband (24and12Fan) and it works every weekend!

Jimmie Johnson- Just something about him that I do not like.

Tony Stewart- I don't care for his attitude.

Greg Biffle- He will probably move off this list next year since he won't be a competitor for ROTY :)

I like Kevin Harvick and Ward Burton.

Hate is such a strong word. :D I dislike Kurt Busch and Greg Biffle.

drivers i like

Dale Earnhardt Jr.....always have been an Earnhardt fan and i love his driving style and attitude

Mikey.....you cant not like the guy

Ricky Rudd...worked for him for awhile.....very very nice guy...stand up fella

guys i dislike
Jeff Gordon.....he's a bit whinney now

Ryan Newman...havent liked him since i saw him spin out a guy on a straightaway at Pocono to win his first ARCA race.

Jimmie Johnson.....just hasnt set good with me for some reason

Geoff Bodine...worked for him for a little less than a year......totall a**hole

Like...most all of the drivers. Fav's are the #17, #88 & #16.

Hate...a lot of Nascar's decisions the past few seasons.

As I said......................................

And if people base thier opinions on Robbie and his latest remarks re: JeffGordon and his religious beliefs, well, you can understand why there are fans who take a negative view of a driver. Anything good is negated by one stupid remark. With Robbie it is an uphill battle going back to his early years.
Consider how long it will take Tony Stewart to rid himself of the bad boy image and how long it will take Robbie to overcome the image he carries or how long it will take, if ever, for anti-Gordon fans to stop saying Jeff is a whiner, although that standard is all in the eyes of the beholder.
On the other hand, I look at Robbie and his latest round of comments and on-track efforts as trying to get into the head of Harvick and Jeff Gordon. He knows who he has to beat so why not screw with thier mind a little. Why not try to take an advantage??? Of course this might come back to bite him where he sits but time will tell.
