Local teen, Kyle Hall sets his sights on NASCAR

He learned to ride a scooter before a bicycle and raced go-karts before entering the second grade. By the time Kyle Hall turned 15, he was competing in the Legends racing circuit and winning races against adult challengers. When he was 16, Kyle won three races, ended up second in points and was given rookie of the year honors.

Now that Kyle has reached the ripe old age of 17, he is upping the level of competition yet again – concentrating his racing efforts on the tracks of North Carolina, where the competition is tough, the races long, and the fields are packed.

This year, Kyle and his No. 69 Chevrolet late model stock car have been racing at Southern National Raceway in Kenly, NC. The determined racer has won four of 12 races he has entered. With ten races to go, Hall and crew – father David Hall, Crew Chief, Herman Grant, Robbie Brown, Charles Downs, and Michael Hall are working hard to win even more.

Look up some of our locial racers. Tanner English, and J.R. Mason. Tanner is 15, and J.R. is 12 or so.

But just about every young driver has hopes of going in to NASCAR, but only a few get lucky and get a shot. Maybe he will make it, but from what you posted, i do not see anything special that would make me want to sign to a ride any time soon.

Well Kyle Hall joins Thousands of kids with their sights set on Nascar..unfortunatly the chances are slim to none unless you know the right people and have the right amount of $$$$$.

Man, they are stretching that about as far as it can be stretched. Most of the tracks not only in NC, but around the southeast are anything but packed. Take a look at the points for Southern National Raceway and you'll see, along with Kyle, four other drivers that have driven in all 14 of the races this year and two more that competed in 12. Even at the famed Caraway Speedway where many of the former champs like Bobby Labonte, Mike Skinner and Brian Vickers raced, the car counts are way, way down for the top series. If this young man wants to get some tough competition, then he'll have to join one of the touring series, of which now seems to be the thing to do.
