Look it up, Weber: Repeating it doesn't make it any more true
By DAVID POOLE - The Charlotte Observer
A quick note to TNT's Bill Weber.

He said twice on Sunday that no driver has ever won his second race immediately after winning his first in NASCAR's top series.

That's not true.

Billy Wade won at Old Bridge Stadium in New Jersey on July 10, 1964, for his first career win. Two days later, he won again on a road course at Bridgehampton, N.Y.

But Wade didn't stop there. He also won July 15 at Islip (N.Y.) Speedway and July 19 at Watkins Glen. So he won his first FOUR races in back-to-back-to-back-to-back events. All of those wins came in cars owned by Bud Moore.

You don't have to look that up, because we did. Apparently, Weber didn't.

I think moving Weber to the booth was a bad idea. It was then and still is. He's great for those melodramatic introductions and recaps, but to have to hear him all race gets so old. He actually said something about Bobby Labonte last week when talking about the 18 car.

Allen Bestwick was a better guy for the booth. I thought in sports you weren't supposed to lose your starting spot due to injury!

Just for the record. Dick Linder also followed up his first win with another win the next race, in 1950. First win was in Dayton and the next was at Hamburg.
