Looks like Manning is done with the Colts

Looks that way. If he plays again I wonder where it'll be. They just said Arizona or Denver maybe. Arizona gave up a lot for Kolb so I don't know if that's in the cards

They slapped Brees with a franchise tag, I don't think that'll help them keep him past this year. He is asking for a lot of money though.

Manning has made his mark. He could work in the booth or take a coaching job. Without doing a thing he can live comfortably for the rest of his life. I understand being a competitor but one hit the wrong way and he's a paraplegic.

But I read where Brees didn't sign to agree to that.

He doesn't have to sign, each team gets a franchise tag. But with doing that Brees might have hurt himself cause they might loose Colston (wide receiver) because of the cap hit of the franchise tag. He was asking 23 million in the first three years of the contract. New Orleans offer averaged the same 18 million as Brady and Peyton. I like Brees and he's good, but he ain't worth more than Tom Brady.

There is none of them worth that much in my eyes.I think they all grossly overpaid.

So, with Peyton in his final years, having multiple neck surgeries and being well past his prime... I wonder what team would be stupid enough to conider throwing away millions of dollars and high draft picks for him.

Oh yeah, the Redskins!

Several people familiar with the Redskins’ plans said the team is comfortable with the risks associated with signing Manning, who missed all of last season with the Colts after undergoing a series of neck surgeries. The team will pursue him intently, they said. Redskins officials declined to comment.

I hate Snottie.

I just heard the first few minutes of the press conference. That was very well done. The owner and Peyton both got choked up and they both handled it with a lot of class.

I think Manning has another 3 years in him, 3 good years. I wouldn't be surprised if the Dolphins make a move for him or maybe even Houston.

I can see Miami but I bet Houston is happy with Shaub.
Only if he can come back healthy, still a question about that from what I read about Shaub, hell Manning as the starter Shaub back up in case Manning gets hurt. You aren't loosing too much there.

Plus it would piss Jerry off up here in Dallas when the Texans are the better team in Texas.I like that idea.

If Manning is even close to what he used to be he's gonna win games for any team he plays for. At least I don't have to be a Colts fan anymore.

I don't think Miami is smart enough to do it. 16 starting quarterbacks since Dan Marino. Even if he's only 85% he's better than most. I'd love to see it, just for the fact my fiancé is a Colts fan and I'm a Dolphin. Please don't hold this against me in my posts

Yeh Miami has a pretty horrible offensive line too, which wouldn't exactly be good for Mannings' stand in the pocket style.

I think Miami and Kansas City are the most likely destinations, but he could put Houston over the top if they aren't worried about Matt Schaub's(sp?) feelings. Arizona isn't a bad fit either. Kolb has a pretty big roster bonus coming up that they may not be willing to pay if they could get Peyton instead. Manning to Fitzgerald seems like a pretty great plan.

am i the only one that thinks signing manning is a hell of a big risk? he's got maybe 3-5 years if he's healthy but he's past prime time. healthwise, i'm not gambling the farm on him. get a decent qb through the draft or trade for one and develop him.

I'm sure he will have to pass an extensive physical, if he does that I would think it would be a good risk to get a caliber QB like Manning for a couple of years. You draft a top prospect it is going to take at least that long to develop him,
not many really quality prospects at that position are out there, maybe 3? You have instant star QB if you go after Manning, just the knowledge and experience he can bring to team is a plus. Is it risky him getting hurt, yeh sure, but that is a risk at any position in football.

Good points DH. There is risk in any football player. The possible reward with Peyton is high enough to outweigh the risk in my opinion.

As long as he's healthy I don't see it as a risk at all. He's a 4 time MVP, a Superbowl champion and one of the best QB's of all time. If his neck is healed up he still has at least 3 to 5 years left in him. You can win a lot of games and make a lot of money in that time.

My money is on Seattle. Money won't be an issue there and they have a solid offensive line and a pretty good defense.

If Manning were to go to Denver, I doubt they would trade Tebow. It would be a really bad PR move to get rid of the guy. As Stewart Fan said, he could learn a lot from watching Peyton Manning for a while. He's also a pretty good insurance policy if Peyton gets injured, as 36 yr old QB's tend to do.

Yeh but who do they have for recievers? Granted they do have a lot of money under the cap.

Just read this morning that Denver and Arizona are the top two considerations. I'm kind of surprised at Denver, but I guess he has ties there to the coaching staff and Elway.
Yeah if he goes there I bet he wishes he changed his mind come the first cold weather game after playing in that dome all those years.

Denver does seem like a curious choice for several reasons. The weather is a big one, although the game has changed over the years. It used to be that if the weather was bad, that you had to run the ball a lot. However, it has gotten so hard to run the ball consistently in the NFL and win that you better be able to throw it even in bad weather and Manning does that pretty well. In addition, it is really hard to get the traction to rush the quarterback hard in bad weather. And, if you don't get a good rush on Peyton he will absolutely destroy you.

Manning will freeze his tookis off playing in Denver.
Read somewhere doc's say his neck in just as strong if not stronger than before his injury. Vinny Paz broke his neck in a car accident, wore a halo for a very long time and then returned to the ring.

I can't believe Titans fans don't want them to sign Manning. Not that it would happen anyway but people are complaining just because he's meeting with the team. I guess they would rather keep Hasselbeck who's average on his very best day.

I don't understand it either.....The owner sure wants him though.
