I had to do a backup of the boards and lost a few posts, I think it was only posts from yesterday and last night.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

Hay Paul according to the member count. Might have lose about four members. Yesterday it showed 999 today it is 995.

That's what I thought though sometime ago I thought your were getting your own box.

I thought i noticed one of my posts from earlier missing. No big deal, no harm done.

darn! just when I get a good thread going with a nice little war, it disappears! Oh well,it was fun while it lasted.

<----- Is posting to see how many posts he lost :p

Looks like about 7. Guess I'll live :)

I know how, just don't have the resources. I run Linux at home so it's second nature.

Who would you get a box from if you did Paul? VO? How much bandwidth do you burn per month?

VO I guess...and I don't use enough BW a month to justify it either. I use about 10-11 a month. But I'm pretty liberal with attachments and avatars etc.

I was looking at VO's dedi's and see they are quite expensive. Then again, anything over $100 or so a month for me is. I also don't have the resources, not for a hobby site.

My site burns averages about 10 - 13 per month but it's been as high as 24 gigs for a couple months straight in the past. It was getting "hammered" by some idiot but the host wasn't much help. I even shut much of the site down during that period.

Right now, I'm at about 13.5 gigs this month which is split amongst two hosts to share the load. I've got about 4 gigs burnt on host #2. My database is at 55 mb but I don't allow attachments per say. Instead, I use an upload script and let members dump images on host #2 and then link to them.

I'm most likely leaving host #1 (I think you know who that is) in the near future when I find a very reliable replacement that can offer 35 gigs per month (I like to plan ahead) and that has excellent uptime and charges around $30 or so a month.

:D

How have things been going there? Not good from what you're saying but anything major?

No, nothing major Paul. But it's not like it was in the past. The forums are dead for the most part. The owner and a moderator have made one or two statements recently that were a tad insulting to former techs and myself in my opinion which doesn't sit with me.

Being sometimes I push my bandwidth limits (I get 25 gigs), I'm constantly looking elsewhere. Host #2 is cool, has great communication and all, but I'm not sure if I want to run my forums on their servers yet.

After seeing that place from the inside I knew something wasn't right...I took my ball and went home. A certain girl who's name starts with M shouldn't be trusted either.
