Lost in the Busches

We saw 20, count 'em 20, caution flags fly last night. Including one for what was insanely referred to once by a common tater as a "bomb". Talk about at least attempting to engage your brain before opening your mouth, gimme a break. Turned out it was merely a piece of a race car..........can't imagine how that would have happened at Bristol.

Two or three incidences stand out in my mind at the moment.

Ricky Craven and Ted Musgrave.........where was Ricky going..........and why? Seemed like Ted was sitting on the outside pretty solid and Ricky was in no great strain when for some reason Ricky's car suddnely veered right into the side of Ted's. Seems in the excitement of of trying find the proverbial two birds no one bothered to ask. Ted was asked and had no clue..........

Rubby and I honestly can't remember who. In his interview Rubby declares he doesn't really know what happened. Meanwhile the tape has his spotter practically screaming/pleading "inside inside inside" before, during, and after the contact. Not to mention whoever the other driver was is neatly pinned as far to the inside as you dare drive a car off the turns at Bristol. Understand, all drivers make these kinds of mistakes and I think Rubby is a hell of a driver, but sometimes...........

Mark Martin and Johnny Sauter. MM says in his post crunch interview that Johnny was "a weapon out there" all night. Very out of character for Mark to make any such comment...........so much so that I can't help but wonder why the broadcast folks weren't just a tad more curious about what prompted such a statement. Reckon those two birds in the Busch were still more interesting.......

Others will likely occur as time goes by.............

The tangle with "Rubby" involved Casey Mears. What the heck was Gordon thinking. The guy was 63(?) laps down and racing like he was leading. I know he is competitive but that was a bit much. And yes, his spotter did warn him, "inside" several times.

Like you, I think Robby is a good driver but he does have his moments.

And yes indeed, Sauter was a weapon on the track. Various shots that picked up his car made it appear as if he were out of control a big part of the time.

Two hands in the "Busch". HEH ,HEH. Cute !! Freakin' cute.

I listen to Jeff G during each race. When Jeff started in the pack around 1/2 way He came on the radio & said "go to the 4's spotter & tell him if johnny comes down on me next time I'm under him I'm not letting off"1 jeff had asked a few laps earlier who was during the 4

So I guess Johnny needs to get some leasons

I didnt watch the race, but I got this off of Jayski's:

NASCAR has warned #24-Jeff Gordon to calm down.
Do you know what Jeff Gordon was so riled up about?

no I don't remember hearing anything from nascar on jeff's radio

Nascar warned Jeff Gordon to settle down after he spun the #12 out early in the race.
