Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to make first-ever appearance at Volunteer Speedway on Saturday, July 7

BULLS GAP, Tenn. — The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will make its first-ever appearance at Volunteer Speedway for a $10,000-to-win event on Saturday, July 7 presented by Pizza Plus and the Rusty Wallace Auto Group. Racing is also scheduled in "Rusty Wallace Toyota" Hobby Stock.

Headlining the list of drivers expected to be in action is Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn., fresh off his $30,000 victory this past weekend in the Firecracker 100 at Lernerville (Pa.) Speedway. Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., driving for NASCAR Nextel Cup Series competitor Bobby Labonte, stands atop the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings. Other drivers expected to be present include Steve Casebolt of Richmond, Ind., Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, Wis., Donnie Moran of Dresden, Ohio, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., Scott James of Lawrenceburg, Ind., Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C., Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C., Terry English of Benton, Ky., Damon Eller of Crumpler, N.C., Brandon Kinzer of Allen, Ky., Brad Neat of Dunnville, Ky., Billy Drake of Bloomington, Ill., Justin Ratliff of Campbellsville, Ky., Brady Smith of Solon Springs, Wis., Michael England of Glasgow, Ky., plus many more.

Racers' from around the East Tennessee region looking to take on the out-of-state invaders include Jimmy Owens of Newport, Scott Sexton of Pigeon Forge, Freddy Smith of Seymour, Vic Hill of Morristown, Kerry Jones of Bristol, Jeff Maupin of Greeneville, Mike Smith of Rogersville, Bryan Hendrix of Knoxville, Herman Goddard of Knoxville, Shanon Buckingham of Morristown, Greg Burchett of Church Hill, Mark Douglas of Knoxville, Tommy Kerr of Maryville, Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Anthony White of Clinton, Randy Weaver of Crossville, Steve Smith of Powell, Rick Rogers of Knoxville, Shane Roberts of Bluff City, along with several others.

Adult grandstand admission is $25, children 6-12 $5, with 5-and-under admitted free. Pit admission and backside tier-parking $35 per person of any age.

The pit gate will open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand gate opens at 5 p.m. Hotlaps are tentatively scheduled to begin around 7:30 p.m., followed by qualifying and then racing action.

A huge fireworks show will light the nighttime skies over "The Gap."

Volunteer Speedway is located just off Exit 23 (Bulls Gap/Greeneville) on Interstate 81.

***NOTE: With a large crowd expected and all available seating space needed for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event, no lawn chairs will be permitted in the grandstands. Only stadium seat-type cushions will be allowed. Also, no advance ticket sales leading up to the event. Tickets will be sold only on race day.
