For anyone that might be headed to Wheatland for the Show Me 100 weekend, the event has been postponed due to the area being hit by a tornado last night, including at the track. a make-up date will be announced hopefully within the week.

Damn that's a shame. Hopefully they were well insured for such disasters.

I've been keeping an eye on the cleanup efforts at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS, which looked like this in March:

Last I heard they were targeting a June reopening.

I know some people that were at the track when the storm hit. Their hauler was 100 yards or so where the tornado ripped through. They were very lucky.

Guess they don't call it Lakeside for nothing, lol.
The name is actually a misnomer and dates back to a time that the track was at another location from the 1950s through the 1980s. This version of the track isn't near any lake, but instead resides in a floodplain of the Missouri River. I believe this is the third time it has been flooded like this.

Lucas Oil Speedway is currently set to re-open after all the cleanup on June 8.

Lakeside Speedway which I mentioned had themselves all cleaned up and ready to open for a USAC show this weekend on June 1. They had dried out and remodeled extensively...only to be flooded by the overflowing Missouri River again last week. The entire track is underwater again. Big bummer for those folks.

Show Me 100 has been cancelled as there is no suitable make-up date for that race. The series did add another race to the schedule at Lucas Oil Speedway when they go there in July.

NBC Sports is reporting that Lakeside Speedway will finally open tomorrow for their first race of the year... good news!

There is heck of a show going on at Lucas Oil Speedway this weekend: the Hockett / McMillin Memorial three night event honoring Missouri-born sprint car driver Jesse Hockett and his long time crew chief Daniel McMillin, both of whom died in off-track incidents (McMillin in 2006, Hockett in 2010).

Over 70 ASCS sprint cars (winged 360) are in attendance and over 60 WAR sprints (non-winged) as well. Fans are getting to watch this with ticket prices in the $20 range each night. Good stuff, I watched tonight via LucasRacingTV.
