ARCHDALE, NC (July26, 2007)- Earl Pearson Jr. the 2006 Lucas Oil Series Champion, and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team won their 4th Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event in 2007 at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO last weekend. Earl started third on the grid for the 50-lap $10,000 to win feature event and quickly showed his strength passing both the first and second place cars on the first lap to take the lead. Earl would have several challengers to deal with throughout the event but it was Brian Birkhofer who passed Earl for the lead and maintained the top spot until lap 30 when Earl was able to pass him back for the lead and cruise to his ninth career series win on the three year old tour.
Earl also competed at the Tri-City Speedway in IL last Friday in a 50-lap $10,000 to win feature event. Earl started ninth in the feature event and worked into the top five running order early on in the race. Earl was able to finish a strong 5th place in the final run down and added to his points lead on the series national tour in 2007.
“We had a pretty good weekend. The car worked really well both nights and Jason and the crew really have these cars prepared to perfection. Its good to get back to running consistent again in the top 5 no matter where we are racing at”, stated Earl from his home in Jacksonville, FL. With his two top five finishes Earl now has a 145 point lead over Steve Casebolt in the chase for the Lucas Oil Series National Points champion.
