Mark Martin to drive Chevrolets for Hendrick in Busch Series
http://www.thatsracin.com/242/story/2928.html

Mark Martin is putting together an unusual mix of deals for the 2007 racing season. In addition to his deal to drive a limited schedule for Ginn Racing in the No. 01 Nextel Cup Chevrolets, Martin also will drive in at least two Busch Series races in Fords for his longtime Cup owner Jack Roush.

And on Wednesday, Martin announced that he’ll run three Busch races in Chevrolets for Rick Hendrick.

“Mark Martin and I have been friends for 25 years,” Hendrick said. “Harry Hyde got us together when I first got started and we almost put a deal together then. Several times in the past, we’ve come close. We’ve talked.

“When you look at your career and what you’ve tried to accomplish and the people you’ve been around, there are legends in the sport. …I can’t wait to walk out on pit road and see Mark Martin’s name on the roof of one of our cars.”

Martin will drive the No. 5 car at Darlington on May 11, at Michigan on Aug. 18 and at Homestead on Nov. 17. “This is one of the most exciting things I’ve done in my career,” Martin said.

Some will probably desert Mark because he will be driving that bowtie, and that's a shame.

He's just living by the American Credo - Show me the Money...

Yeah BP...and at this stage in MM's career he has to see the money that's out there. Did MM "retire" from cup voluntarily? - I doubt it.

You get to a certain age and you start thinking about your kids and your legacy. You want to earn money to help them out. (IMO)

You really think Mark Martin is concerned about money ???????

:XXROFL:

I think he's concerned with making himself happy. He is having fun. He knows he doesn't have the pressure of making the Chase, so he is going to drive where, what, and however many times he wants.

GOOOOOOOOO, MARK ! !

He is having fun.

So what are you saying about Rousch? That it wasn't "fun" driving for him.
That Mark would rather be bouncing around from team to team, manufacturer to manufacturer than having the same guys, cars, etc from week to week. It would seem to me that having fun could equate to the number of wins and good showings one has.
If fun was all he wanted then he stays with Jack, and does a Schrader or Stewart where he drives anything else, anywhere. It doesn't look like this schedule is going to give him much more time with his family as he claimed was one of his reasons.
It's still a mystery to me.
