At the right there is a 20 sec video of the accident. The video stops just before the hit.Should these indoor monstor truck shows be banned....There just isn't enough rooom in these places for these big beasts.

The man killed was identified as George Eisenhart Jr., 41, of Chardon, Ohio, according to the Dane County coroner. The coroner said that Eisenhart was one of the show's promoters as well as the announcer. He was apparently struck by one of the monster trucks on Saturday night.

For 16 years Eisenhart brought his passion for monster trucks to Madison.

The regular event attracted an audience of 7,000 people on Saturday night.

Those who knew him say Eisenhart's top concern was always safety.

The event promoter spoke with WISC-TV about safety measures just a few hours before Saturday's big show.

But near the end of the show, Eisenhart was struck and killed.

"He was standing in a well coming out onto the floor, one vehicle had passed him," said Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney.

But it was the second truck called Samson, driven by Daniel Patrick of Ohio, that hit and killed the 41-year-old husband and father of two.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that neither the truck driver nor Mr. Eisenhart saw each other before the collision," said Dane County Medical Examiner John Stanley.

Video shot from a local fan caught the entire accident as it happened.

"We learned today that a lot of the direction that comes after drivers go over the cars is dependant upon how the trucks hit the cars and what happens with the trucks when they come to a landing," said Mahoney.

Dane County investigators said there are no set rules for drivers to follow. Investigators said the shows promoters, led by Eisenhart, followed all of the safety measures required during the event.

The safety requirements include not allowing anyone in the arena while a truck is on and moving, except for the announcer. Each truck must have a working engine shut-off switch, and each driver must have the required safety gear.

"I can't tell you exactly why he went out on the floor. I think that this is a very tragic accident," said Mahoney.

Dane County investigators completed their investigation on Sunday and are calling the situation a terrible accident.

That really sucks. His family must be devastated.

Although not nearly as significant as the man's family, there seem to be about 7,000 people affected by this. The guy who was driving the truck must be shook up even though he didn't appear to do anything wrong. Everyone who witnessed it will remember it for a long time as well. I'm sure there were kids there who learned more than they wanted to. It's just a shame.

agreed. While i'm not sure how they couldn't see eachother (i understand driver has no lines of sight..but a pedestrian?), it appears as an accident.

And Yes, there should be minimum coliseum sizes for monster trucks.

The size of the building had nothing to do with what happand to George Eisenhart Jr. From the video it looked like the guy just walked out in front of the truck. Monster Trucks them selfs are safe and the shows are safe. No Driver has been killed while driving a truck and seems that just two people have been killed at the shows. Not to bad of a recored over the past 30 or so years.

Andy i do not agree with your post, esp the woot part with the dancing smiley.

According to the Associated Press, truck accidents have killed five people and injured more than 40 between 1992 and 2007.

thats a believable number. These things go into the stands more than you think.

I'm one of the few that thing monster truck races should be outdoors only. No space constraints in any direction..including up.

all of you

It wasn't dancing ... it was running around in circles chaotically.

< --- see, look of panic.

"This is our 16th year and I wish I had a big piece of wood to knock on right now, but we have not had an incident besides a gal slipping in the aisle at another location. That's been all," said Eisenhart.

You've got to admit, it's not funny but it's really ironic.

I have been to over 100 of these shows. Never seen one go in the stands. At an outdoor show a dog ran out from under a junk car in front of one of a tank truck. I love going to the indoor shows. (Edward Jones Dome) The out door shows are not as good.

That's really sad for all involved.

I'm one who has always wondered about the air quality inside the stadiums whenever the trucks come here. Of course, having to be super careful raising a kid who started with asthma as a baby, made me think of that stuff more. It just seems to me the fumes could get strong inside. Are they strong for those of you who have gone?

Having been to my first outdoor race last summer, I was surprised at how much the cars smelled in the open - oil, whatever and it made me feel a little sick at first until they really got going and made their own breeze. :D I have to qualify that with that I was feeling pretty awful waiting for the race to start since it got super sunny and hot and I wondered how I was going to manage when the race hadn't even started yet! Once I got some water in me and the cars got going, I was fine. It also helped toward the end to take the melted ice water and just scoop it up and & put on my face, arms, legs...wherever I could to cool down. My daughter was "worried" I might splash someone with it. Well, as long as I knew it was water and not something nasty, I sure wouldn't have minded getting splashed by someone. LOL :)

Prayers and thoughts for the family.

I've never taken my kids to one of the monster truck shows inside. Bad air quality was enough reason, but lack of room/space for the trucks was another. I prefer the outdoor shows.

I was recently at a monster jam event this month, and I thought to myself that a part could fly off at any time. Did see a truck lose a part and saw sparks fly; wasn't but a week or two later I heard a boy was killed and now this.
