Good race for the Tony and the Home Depot crew.

Much has been written and said around about how "lucky" the team was with the first red flag since two lugs were loose. Who know's how that might have played out. Greg seemed to indicate they had a suspicion that the nuts were loose, but whether they would have brought the car in on a green flag run to check remains a mystery. If Tony felt the car was fine probably not, if there was a vibration or other warning sign, probably so. One of those "we'll never know".

Anyhoo - If Tony finishes 9th or better in the remaining three races, his competition can do what they will. They will not catch him.

As an exercise in math, no one behind Bill Elliott in 12th place can win the championship.

With the way Tony has been running, I'll bet he clinches the championship before the end of the year. (This is a hard think for a diehard Jeffy fan to type:( ). But, he has proven that he has what it takes to persevere for the championship.
 
I think the average must be 136 points over the next three races
 
Stewart has the championship in the bag... he's WAY too good to screw up now.
 
I'm about ready to concede on Mark's behalf. If he doesn't make a significant move this Sunday, he's done. Tony is too good at Homestead.
 
It's over. Ship the trophy to his house and give him the big check. Tony has it wrapped up and he deserves it. Nobody ran away with it when they had the opportunity so he hung in there and toughed em all out. Good job by Tony and the Home Depot crew.
 
I thing Jimmie and Mark still have a chance. A small one for sure but if Tony has a problem or gets caught up in someone elses mistake he can lose a lot of points.

I am still rooting for Jommie. I would love to see a rookie win the championship. It will be (if my memory serves me right) the first one since Red Byron back in 1949.

The Rock concerns me a bit. If Tony can make it through with a respectable (1-15) finish, then I might say the lady is warming up. But I'm one to wait till its offical to celebrate.
 
The magic number will probably decrease this weekend unless something happens to Stewart's car or Martin or Johnson do something spectaculor this weekend.
 
Kurt's gonna win 5 in a row to steal the Cup away from all the has-beens, wanna-bees, and never-weres. :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

Tony is getting better and better, it'll be tough for any guy to come and take his lead unless Tony has some major problems. Other than that I think this is Tony's to lose.
 
Not really "locked up" yet, but pretty damn close!

On the other hand it is now his to loose, just like I said about Marlin before the injury.
 
i think ole smoke will finish in the top 2 spots this weekend. he really wants to win at the rock BAAAAD! therefor, i think it will be hard to steal tonys thunder. imagine that, in a pontiac:p oh well
 
I think Tony will win
I just hope for a good finish this weekend for him
If he can pull a solid finish at the rock~ it will be awful hard
for anyone to catch him.
I felt once Tony got the top spot it would be hard for anyone to catch up.

I'm sure your probably right 71. But believe me, I won't be happy about it;)
