John Bickford built race cars in California before he moved his young stepson, Jeff Gordon out to the Midwest where he could race.

Sometimes the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree . I seem to recall ( could be my meds) that singer Tim Mcgraw was a pretty fair ballplayer before ever finding out that his birth father was Tug Mcgraw ....I'm thinkin Earnhardt .
