Manipulating the Race

I'm not MWR fan, in fact Nascar should put Clint Bowyer out of the chase! My problem is with Nascar saying that they won't allow manipulating the outcome of races. Well Nascar does the very samething when they call a debris caution near the end of a race just to tighten up the field or when certain teams NEED a caution. You can almost predict when a debris caution is coming by who is first up for the lucky dog, who needs to work on the handling of their car or how far in front is the leader.

No doubt NASCAR has manipulated races, especially if certain drivers where about to go down a lap or catch the lucky dog.. If the clowns at MWR weren't so stupid about their car communications this whole deal probably would have been overlooked.. Either way glad to see MWR get embarrassed again

Yeah what Kevin said. NASCAR throws cautions for chunks of rubber well outside the racing groove sometimes, and then decides not to throw a caution at watkins glen when one of the leaders crashes out on one of the most congested parts of the track. They just are able to get away with it because they are NASCAR and they do what they want when they want.

Even before multi-car teams there were buddies helping each other on the track working against common rivals – trying to manipulate the race. Drivers routinely let a friend or team mate take the lead for a bonus point, I don’t care for that behavior but it is not a big deal. I absolutely disapprove of team orders, I consider it detrimental to the sport (look at F1, half the cars in the field are under team orders). MWR actions took it to a new level at Richmond and NASCAR has been forced to deal with it. It’s really a no win situation but I think NASCAR resolved it the best way they could – no one knows how the last 6 laps would have turned out without Bowyer's spin but it probably would have been different from what actually happened.

Well I don't know if I agree 100% with what nascar did - but at least they did something. One cool thing that may come out of it is teams will use more elaborate "codes" and we can try to decipher them. I can just hear the radio communications in the future as the races get down to crunch time. Crew Chief: "John has a long mustache...repeat...John has a long mustache". Driver: "The pigeon is in the coop". Spotter: "8675309". ;)

Honestly , I know this guy is an impostor troll , but the overreactions on here are unbelievable . Kick Bowyer out of the chase for spinning his car and creating a caution ? Really ? Like that hasn't been done in every form of racing . Jeff Gordon should wreck Bowyer every chance he gets ? Really ? Like that's legal? Talk about a bunch of church ladies . Penalties have been issued , surely we're done . Thank heaven Jeff Gordon is a more honest competitor than his fans , I know he won't endanger Bowyer's life or the lives of the other drivers in the race . And as for the debris caution wives' tale ,that's really nuts .

Not everything is clear cut.

A phantom yellow is far from deliberately affecting entire race organizations and the livelihood of their employees.
