Alright, with rumors of Biff and Carl heading to Toyota, I am wondering how many fans they might lose by switching manufacturers. Who is manufacturer loyal? Who would dump their driver if he signed to drive something else?

When it comes to what I drive, I'm a Ford guy. When it comes to what my driver drives, I don't give a damn. Theres nothing Ford, Chevy, or Toyota about a stock car anymore.

They're all junk these days, don't matter what badge is on the outside.

I am for the driver always and not the make. I am a Ford man at heart though. I have Fords and Gm's in the driveway and I dont care who make them I just want good service from them. Truth be told there is not that much difference between them.

Meeeee

I've collected Nascar trading cards since they first came out in 1988. I don't buy or trade for cards I buy boxes and cases of boxes of unopened packs of cards and open them myself. I have certified autograph cards, autograph memorabilia cards, rookie cards and all inserts of all nascar drivers past and present. The point is when a driver goes to toyota the price of their collectibles goes into the toilet. Dale Jarrett, kybu, Hamlin, mikey, Matt Kenseth etc etc. Each went from the penthouse to the outhouse. To this day Tony Stewarts collectible value is the only one that has fully recovered although Martin Truex is starting to edge back up a bit. When you have a 1/1 Tony Stewart autographed sheet metal card worth $450 to $500 drop to $40 within a month of him going to toyota and rising back up to $350 after he goes back to Chevy tells the story. This is an unbiased view of fan manufacturer loyalty. Was I pissed about losing thousands of dollars? Yep. By the way this isn't book value. A true collector goes by what is being offered for a card or what a similar card sold for.

I have manufacturer loyalty, but would not look down on a driver for switching brands. I still root for Truex even though he's in a Chevy now.
I sure as hell cant blame a guy for taking better situation(Kenseth). But it still sucks that most driver's don't have loyalty.

In past era's manufacturer loyalty was a much bigger thing. Our parents and their parents were proud of their respective brands because the auto companies provided great careers and benefits and tried to build something people would be proud of.

Nowadays, they churn out these disposable plastic cars to turn the most profit possible and they have turned their backs on the country that made them what they are. How could anyone be loyal to companies that took bailouts and left so many people high and dry. 50 years ago you could get a job in an auto plant and provide for your family for the rest of your life, mostly all those jobs are gone now. Cheap plastic trim made in China lines most American cars now, while the service has been downgraded too. They'd like you to trade you new car in every 2 years for the new model so they can maximize their profits.

Now I certainly appreciate what they do in NASCAR and the money they invest in the sport. On the other hand though, I can never be loyal to these brands who have taken so much from my generation and given so little in return. Perhaps if I worked in the 50's and 60's my opinions would be different (like my grandfathers), all I see is greedy multi billion dollar companies trying to get my money and taking every hand out thy can get.

Rant over, I cheer for the drivers and teams only.

Import manufactures have marketed really hard over here and it has worked for the most part..got a laugh last week watching the pre race with the big decals plastered on the front windshields on the Tundras. "made in Texas" up in the far northeast....I know, think about it. I will say this, the competition has made American cars much better and cars in general. Same thing in Nascar. People buy what they buy because they think it is the vehicle that works best for them, gone are the days when driving a car was exciting. When the mustang came out, there were crowds at the dealerships around the country waiting for the dealer to uncover the car so they could get a look at it. Now days, pack of lawyers wait in the wings for defects, phantom or real to sue for a payday, and insurance companies crash test and rate the safety..kinda took the fun out of it. That being said, I still root for the American brands and buy my genuine Italian company owned Mopar parts made in Mexico and China.

Used to be a die hard, bled blue Ford guy, but seeing there's nothing stock anymore It doesn't matter. The only thing that bothers me about being a potential Chase Elliott fan is that he's running for Evil Hendricks Empire.

No difference to me, my driver is Kahne and I've followed him through Dodge's, Ford's, Toyota's, to now Chevrolet.

Same with the cars ive owned, Ive had 2 toyota supras, a cobra, a thunderbird and a integra. It doesn't really matter to me, each car has its ups and downs.

I have no problem with teams changing manufactures. I prefer Chevys...but i will root for a team i like no matter what manufacturer they have. We don't get any manufacturer support, so we have had a Toyota as our main body, and an Impala as our back up body, plus an old Monte Carlo as our third back up for the past two years. But, we just took delivery of a new Toyota body, so now we can carry two Toyota bodies with us and have the Impala as our third back up.

i agree with this, not so much now except for when toyota entered, a lot of peeps stated if their driver went to toyota they were done with them, still hear that today but not as much. myself i don't care if my driver gets in an amish buggy and races, he my driver. i am however more loyal to a team, once that driver leaves my favorite team, chances are i'm done pulling for that driver, not always but more times than not.

I dont give a hoot what brand my driver races, I used to be a die hard chevy fan but these days I could care less.

Cuz Toyota fans don't have any money to buy collectibles.

*runs away*

My all time favourite car, I'm a proud owner of a 93 Supra TT and a 92 Soarer with a 1JZ single turbo. Love those cars!

doesn't matter these days.

racin and street vehicles.

Honest to God i wouldnt mind seeing Ford re-enter with Honda as a new comer.

Do you think Toyota hate = loyalty to another manufacturer? I don't.

I respect that. I won't root for anybody not in a Toyota--preferably a TRD Toyota. Having said that I appreciate and respect drivers from other manufacturers.

Chevy is my favorite, but that doesn't mean I like every driver that drives a Chevy!

I'm not. I'm not really a car guy, even though my dad is being a mechanic and all. I didn't start rooting for Rusty cause he was in a Pontiac. In fact, the only car I've wanted to drive because of Nascar was the Monte Carlo late 80s- early 90s cause I think it looks badass.

Its always been about the driver to me.

Yes you do. You need me. Kyle needs me. Do.....not......forget......Fontana. :pbjtime:

I plan on buying a Ford Ranger, my favorite driver drives a Chevy. Manufacturer doesn't matter to me. However I do shop at Lowes and buy Kabalt Tools. *shrugs*

I don't really have a favorite driver anymore, I was a die hard Bill Elliot fan throughout his career and a big Ford fan back in the 80s. I even owned two T-Bird Turbo Coupes back then, but those were different times, then you knew a Ford on the track, could tell the difference between a Chevy, a Buick and a Pontiac and you didn't have to look at the front end like you do today. I'm loyal to Subaru, owned 8 of them throughout the last 24 years, but as far as Nascar goes it doesn't matter to me who drives what. I'm hoping that Chase Elliot will some how end up in a Ford just because his father made those T-Birds so famous, but whatever he ends up in , most likely a Chevy, I'll still cheer for him and he will be my new favorite driver. When I came to this forum back in 2002 Bill Elliot had just joined up with Evernham and Dodge, hence my forum name. I really don't think manufacturer loyalty means much anymore, this is an entirely different Nascar now.

The majority of the teams have no brand loyalty either. You know Roush and the Woods are going to be in A Ford and Hendricks and are going to be in Chevies. Other than that it's a $ game.
