I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict an eighth straight championship for Chevy. Call me crazy but that's my pick! :D

Just for kicks, can someone post a car count for the top 35 by automotive sponsor?

(I would say manufacturer, but we all know the cars are all identical)

Does the car make come into play in races, or is it more about the driver, the set up, and the pit crews?

Why does the car make matter? I thought it's all the same car now, esp. since the COT.
Meh, there are some slight variations. The front ends for example, Chevy and Fords have a bigger front profile than Dodges and especially Toyotas.

The make has the least to do with the win.The manufacturers fight to have a Kyle Busch,Tony Stewart, etc driving for their flag.I think that Chevy must have put a ton of money up for Stewart as Dodge did for Evernham a couple of years back.

If I recall correctly, the engine is the main part of the car that represents the make of the car. Also, I know they all used to use Ford rearends, but I don't know if that is so these days. The chasis, sheet metal and decals are not made by the manufacturer. Tell me anything other than the engine that is developed by the manufacturer. The term stockcar goes back to a time that the cars actually were stockers. It's such a crock that any of them claim to be any of the model they tout. If there wasn't a decal on them, I doubt that anyone could recognize the different "makes".

And how is that working out right now?

I'm not saying it is good or bad.I just think that if Jimmy Johnson was for sale, the manufacturers would be lined up to buy him.Right now he is a gold mine for Chevy, not the other way around.

I bet Ken Block sells more Ford Fiestas than every NASCAR Ford driver combined. The manufacturers are just sponsors that also hire a few engineers to help out.

Still use a 9in Ford type rearend.

After 5 races:
Chevy-40
Dodge-25
Ford-25
Toyota-20

Let me get this straight- a manufacturer that really only has 1 or 2 teams is still leading ford and toyota? Dinger been getting it done! (among the other Dodge boys)

Dinger runs a Ford now.

Fun fact, Kurt Busch has got 4 of the 5 best finishes for a Dodge this year(Brad Keselowski got the other).

Anyone expect to see Allgaier in the #77 next year?
