President Mike Helton offered a fair and logical reason, from NASCAR's position, of why Robbie Gordon was suspended for one race.

What President Helton did not comment on, or make an effort to prove, was how NASCAR arrived at the restart lineup, its legitimacy based on when a full course caution went into effect.

NASCAR, by arguably not following their own rules failed to give participants a fair race, something Robbie Grdon, and spectators, paid for.

Race participants, race fans, potential fans, and non-believers, lose respect for an organization with nearly sixty years as the sanctioning body whose officiating experience indicate they are apparently incapable of conducting a race without questions relating to officiating, or at the very least, looking like fools

In order to maintain any credibility it becomes incumbent upon NASCAR to prove exactly when the full course yellow came into play.

And yes, NASCAR was within their rights to suspend Robbie Gordon.

Okay, rant away. But in the process, give logical reasons for defending NASCAR. Have at it !!!

Another way to look at it-

Because Ambrose spun Gordon under caution and Gordon was unable to regain his position, NASCRAP is basically saying that whenever someone spins another driver out during caution, the driver who caused it will get no penalty and the driver who was spun out cannot regain his position.

Actually, if you look at the bonus monies that drivers can earn, you will see they have a decal that they can put on their car that pays extra anytime you spin out Robbie. The downside is if you have that decal and Robbie spins you then you lose money.
That's why if you look at the payout you will see that Ambrose actually got more money than his finishing position paid... :D

Think of it thisaway.. There are scoring loops under or beside the track..
NASCAR went back to the last one before the yellow... Ambrose was in 1st and Yucko was in 2ed... Then at the NEXT scoring loop Ambrose was in 1st and Yucko didn't cross until 12th..
Perhaps the loops are THAT far apart and that is all NASCAR has to go on.
Without regard to who did what to whom... I'm thinking that is about what happened.
As I understand the process ONLY the last lap is investigated using ALL possible means of scoring.
My explanation would be correct depending on where the scoring loops are on that particular track..
Betsy

The rule is if a car comes to a stop, for any reason, under caution, that car loses any position when passed by other cars. Since they now freeze the field, that rule needs to be changed, especially when someone is intentionally wrecked.

In NASCAR's defense, there was so much going on at the time, I think they lost track of what was going on. The Harvick wreck was enough of a mess without adding the deal between Gordon and Ambrose to it.

I really think NASCAR needs to look at going back to the last completed lap for the running order when a caution comes out. Lead changes are only scored at the start/finish line. It's logical to use that reference to line up the whole field when a caution comes out on the following lap.

But Montreal is 2.71 miles. So if you revert back to the last full lap that could potentially change a dozen or so cars positions. All they need to do is go by GPS positioning. It would be more accurate than what we have. But, if Nascar wasn't watching the TV monitor that showed the Ambrose-Robbie wreck numerous times duing the 3 laps they rode around under caution then someone needs to be fired.

"How many extra points do we get if we wreck out Earnhardt?" :D
