Andretti Green Racing's Marco Andretti will be honored as the Athlete of the Year at the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame 30th anniversary gala celebration this weekend in Chicago.

Kudos to Marco. Way to go! A nice plug for IndyCar. :beerbang:

Ya know no disrespect to Marco but he crashed quite a few times during this past IRL season. Was there not another Italion athlete that did anything that could have been nominated?

Whose in this picture not Marco ! Just wondering. Cheers to Marco he almost won at Indy the year before he rocks, nuff said.

Wasn't impressed with Marco this year. From the opening race, when he tried to crowd his way up front at the drop of the green flag, crashed himself out and then blamed everyone else. There were a few other crashes as well that looked mostly his doing. Then there was the incident with Dario at Sears Point that just about cost the championship. I'm afraid if he didn't have the Andretti name, he wouldn't be anywhere near where he is now.

There's been rumours of F1 in his future, but I just don't see that happening. As far as the pen wheel young guns, I think Graham Rahal has got him beat hands down.

I disagree, Marco is a good driver. Yes, he had some bad luck. He had a rough sophomore year in racing but so did Michael Andretti. They had comparable bad sophomore seasons. I think next year you will see an improved Marco, with a couple wins even.

The one with Dario was bad. That's what happens when you mix business with friendship and team orders aren't clear. I think Marco has had bad luck but he can hang with the big boys. Hopefully next year?
