Martin settling in for a long stay with Ginn team, too?
By MIKE HARRIS/The Associated Press

After 19 years with Roush Racing, Mark Martin is in a new environment at Ginn Racing – formerly MB2 Motorsports.

"I'm already comfortable with the guys at Ginn," Martin said during testing at Daytona. "Just because I stayed with Jack Roush for 19 years, doesn't make it wrong for me to drive for someone else. It just makes it strange.

Martin, who's running a part-time Cup schedule this season, doesn't consider his move a short-term endeavor.

"I see it being long term. I wouldn't be surprised to be with Ginn in 19 years. I probably won't be driving then.

"Maybe I'll be driving the hauler or something like that, but I expect to be around."

agree Lap3Forever. after hearing about how long and tough the NASCAR schedule is and how he wants to spend more time with his family mark's credibility is a bit questionable.

another soon to be jaded driver that can't give it up. move along please.

I'm sick of hearing about this...he switched teams...big deal

Personally, I'm sick of people holding up three fingers on the third lap of every race. He's gone, let it go. And, Sloweasy...again...does this need to be rehashed ?? Credibilty ?? MM hasn't done ANYTHING other than what he said he was gonna do.Not run full time in the cup series. Cutting out half of his schedule doesn't allow him more time with his family ?? Move along ??? That is moronic, sorry...but it is. Yeah, move along Mr.gets into the chase every year....you're washed up.

the diff is ppl holding up 3 fingers at a race does not make the news every week. In fact I olny hear something about it once or twice a year. But this Mark Martin stuff has been going on non-stop for about 3 years now.

He cut his Cup time down, but still is racing in a lot of busch and truck races. So hes really not gaining much exter time with him family.

Nick, the difference between now and racing full time for points is simply that Mark now doesn't have to take the stress of trying to get all the points he can. If he wrecks now, he doesn't have to get back out there with a car that doesn't handle well just to try and make up six or twelve points. He says that he can now race and have fun and not worry about that sort of thing.

I know that you are not a kid anymore, but you're still young enough not to have really paid all that much attention to how Mark has aged over the last five to ten years. He's much younger than say, Bill Elliott, but when you look at him, he looks to be at least ten years older. Mark takes his racing really seriously, not that the others don't, but Mark might actually put more into it both physically and mentally and that can take its toll. I think that Mark has been trying to get out of the points thing, rather than the racing thing. He wants to be able to race what he wants, when he wants. Now that he can afford to do just that, he's pretty happy about it.

Seems to me that where Martin races is has more to do with racing than who married whom, what someone's house looks like or the latest appearance on some talk show.

Take a look at the posts in the NASCAR section that have people fighting about some guy racing half way around the world.

I get sick of hearing about Robbie Gordon bouncing around the desert but I understand that it matters to some people here - I just don't happen to be one of them.

Let's face it, where/when some guys take a crap is news to some people and no one ever complains.

Would it be so hard to offer Martin fans the same courtesy?

Obviously, you don't understand the comparison I was trying to make with Mr.lap3, Kat. I could honestly care less whether people hold up 3 fingers or not...doesn't matter to me, as long as they are not blocking my view.

This is the point i was trying to make.

I could care less what Mark does. But every artice as of late has said the same thing. "I drove for Jack for 19 years, but whos to say i cant drive for someone else....blag, blah, blah, ect, ect, ect" Just sick of reading the same thing over and over. This article is pretty much another recent one just sumed down quite a bit with nothing new in it. This is just one subject that i wish they would let play out.

Iv not read that much on Vickers, Mears, or anyone else that switching rides. Maybe 1-2 things.

So have y'all heard the news...Mark Martin, who drove 19 years for Jack, is now going to drive for someone else. He'll be in Cup, Busch and the Truck.

Just jerking your chain. Maybe he can race ARCA, ASA, F-1, and some of the other series...

He's planning on racing some super late models (dirt) too. :)

I was thinking the same thing bp, might as well make a return to ASA.

I really would not mind seeing Mark on dirt. Maybe he will make a trip out to PIR sometime.

Cypress and Lappy, please use the correct words when you talk about caring more or less for something. While the vernacular of the present is to say "I could care less about this or that", if you examine what is said there, you will see that the person saying this COULD actually care less, meaning that it's still pretty high on their list of priorities. However, if that person said "I couldn't care less about this or that." you can see that the issue is at the bottom of their priorities and no matter what, they COULD NOT care less. You might as well use the word AXE when telling someone that you are posing a question, as that is the current vernacular as well.

So now, do you really care about this issue?

Lappy, I see your point. There's not much new being added to the story.

GIG'EM AGGIES !!!!!!

DAMMIT BUCK !!!!!! Lighten up !!!!!

Ya gotta remember, :) Lappy is from Kentucky :) and Cypress went to the "tea sippin'" school of charm in Austin.:D You know, lift the little finger on the hand holding the cup when drinking lemonade and afternoon tea ???
All the formal artsy-fartsy stuff so what do you expect ???? :)

Buck, I think you've hit it. Mark does look so old at times, I catch myself wondering if he should be driving at all. He pushes himself to the limit, and I think the limit has been reached.

I think we (the racing fans in general), and most especially the media, ought to accept his decision, be happy for him, and move on.

Funny Whiz !!!But since you went "there"... I can go to bed knowing that I have no dogs buried in the backyard facing a tv screen so they can watch the race with me. Also, the Patton quote is likely bogus & was never proven to have been said. Made up by some of them "old army" ags in collie town, I guess.

:D

Oh well, I could care less where Cypress went to school. :) Austin, Texas...I certainly could care less...but not much less.

Cypress, you sure you don't have any dogs buried in your back yard?

Since you don't live in Texas, you probably don't get the dog joke. I'll let Whizzer explain it to you. You probably eat pig & call it BBQ too, huh ??:p

I still consider myself an Okie since I spent the first 20 years there.

Say it aint so, buckaroo !!! Say it aint so !!! Tell you what, you can follow Mack Brown & Darrell K. Royal's lead & move down here & call yourself a Texan. I won't tell.

;)

It's true trout! Buckster now lives in NC and loves it there!

Yeah, I have family & friends in NC & SC. I like that part of the world, too....to visit, anyway.:p

Got a new signature. Thanks for the inspiration, Buckaroo !!!:D
