GoDaddy.com named primary sponsor of No. 5 Chevy, Mark Martin to drive through 2011

CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 18, 2009) – GoDaddy.com has signed an agreement to be the primary sponsor of Hendrick Motorsports' No. 5 Chevrolets in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The world's leading registrar of Internet domain names will adorn the hood for 20 races annually, including the season-opening Daytona 500, beginning in 2010. Terms will remain private.

Driving the No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolets will be current Sprint Cup Series championship points leader Mark Martin, who has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with Hendrick Motorsports fulltime through the 2011 NASCAR season.

"Mark Martin is the consummate professional and a very exciting driver, to say the least," said GoDaddy.com CEO and founder Bob Parsons. "He's the sentimental favorite for this year's Sprint Cup championship, and we're stoked to have him driving for Go Daddy next year."

The 2010 No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet can be viewed at www.GoDaddy.com/MarkMartin.

Well sure he's staying around. He has to build some cred in the 5 so that when he retires again his memorabilia sales skyrocket, again.

Actually I'm only kidding. This was a pre-emptive strike because I'm sure someone will be along to post something similar.

Also what happens if Danica does decide to come to Nascar. Do they sponsor both or drop 1?

Danica will take over for Mark when he retires.

Good call!!

Now hopefully the car will have a decent paint scheme. Ugliest car on circuit for a few years now. Embarrassing, but atleast it's fast I guess.

Took the words right out of my mouth!

But it sticks out like a **** in a punchbowl. You can spot it a mile away.

I think that is the general idea of all advertising. Too many times I can't find a certain car because it is silver and black.. or such color that there are always 3 or 4 of them racing..
That ugly one will almost always be seen from anywhere on the track or the TV.
Betsy:rolleyes:

Yep just can't get rid of him, maybe if he wins the championship he will finally retire. I know a lot of you like him , I used to also, but after the farewell tour a few years ago I lost a lot of respect for the guy. I will admit he can still drive, but lets see if he has it in him to win the big ones. All his career he has choked, finished second fiddle, maybe this is the year.:sarcasm:

I for one felt the same way after his farewell tour, but after listening to him on windtunnel a few weeks ago, it makes sense. He was going to retire to be with his son as he was starting racing. His son decided after a couple years he didn't want to be a race car driver, and Mark still had the drive to race, so he decided to come back. He said he truly planned on spending his time and effort helping his son, but when that didn't work out he truly felt he was still competitive, so here he is. I would say he was right to come back.

Remember a Mark Martin that lost a busch race when he came onto pit road when the white flag was waved....LOL...that was too funny.

Not that bad.

I believe Dale Jr. personally designed the current GoDaddy scheme. I can honestl say though, that has to be the worst shade of green ever.

mark has driven uglier cars......... Personally I think it aint too bad. Could have been alot worse given the colors they had to work with, but heck, if it means Mark will be around a couple more years, I'm all for it!!!!! And hey, they already got my business....... go godaddy!!!! wooo hoooo.....
