According to special reports, Martha Stewart found GUILTY on all counts.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A jury found Martha Stewart guilty on Friday of lying to investigators about her suspicious sale of stock in biotech company ImClone Systems Inc. .

The eight women and four men returned their verdict on third day of deliberations, finding Stewart guilty of one count of conspiracy, two counts of making false statements and one count of obstruction of agency proceedings.

Martha Stewart Convicted of All Counts From the AP site

NEW YORK - Martha Stewart (news - web sites) was convicted Friday of obstructing justice and lying to the government about a superbly timed stock sale, a devastating verdict that probably means prison for the woman who epitomizes meticulous homemaking and gracious living.

The jury of eight women and four men deliberated three days before convicting Stewart of all counts against her. The charges carry up to 20 years in prison, but Stewart will almost certainly get much less than that under federal sentencing guidelines.

Her ex-stockbroker, Peter Bacanovic, 41, was convicted on all but one count against him, filing a false document.

Stewart, 62, grimaced as each count against her was read. Her eyes appeared to widen slightly. Her daughter, Alexis Stewart, was in tears.

Sentencing was set for June 17.

Stewart left the courtroom with a somber expression. She did not speak to anyone at the defense table before going to a holding room away from the media.

She and her ex-broker must report to a probation office within a week for processing.

The charges centered on why Stewart dumped about $228,000 worth of ImClone Systems stock on Dec. 27, 2001, just a day before it was announced that the Food and Drug Administration (news - web sites) had rejected ImClone's application for approval of a cancer drug, an announcement that sent ImClone's stock plummeting.

Stewart and Bacanovic claimed they had a standing agreement to sell when the price fell below $60. But the government contended that was a phony cover story and that Stewart sold because she was tipped by her broker that ImClone CEO Sam Waksal was frantically trying to dump his own holdings.

Wonder if she'll actually serve any jail time?

I don't care one way or another but I really didn't think she would be convicted.

Now the other shoe will drop - probation and a hefty fine. Hope she at least gets to do enough time to spruce the place up a bit. Those gray walls are just horrid. You can take old coffee filters, and make them into festive little doilies. Why have a plain oldordinary shiv when you can use a hot glue gun to attach these precious little beads to the haft and somebody stop me I'm being possessed by the crazy homemaking lady from TV!!!!

Let me do the math: O.J hacks up wife and some other guy with a butcher knife, currently playing golf in Florida.

Rich old yankee lady sells a bunch of something or the other....and could go to jail.

Oh ok. I understand now. It's the difference in DEGREES of the crimes. Like, duh.

Your right. Something is very wrong with that picture.

Seriously, White collar crime is something that needs to be dealt with and dealt with harshly in our country. One thing I dont get is, why do we put all this coverage on Martha who probably did in only a couple hundred thousand while these idiots from Enron bagged like millions and got away?

Well, she might serve only one year, but I'm pretty sure she'll be having those soft fluffy curtains in that minimum security prison of hers.

As for the case, I actually knew she would be convicted, it was a crappy strategy to basically only have one witness testify and basically let the jury go at it and not call anyone else and rest the defense after the first day. That was one big big mistake.

I was thinking the same thing. Now should white people get together and riot over the injustice of it all?

I'm sure it is not just you Dee. I'm sure several people found it rude also. ;)

POOR Martha has already spent or lost $4-7 MIL. She'll probably get Community Service teaching the underprivleged and homeless how to waste not, want not. The substantial FINE will probably be paid by K-Mart from the proceeds of the "Marta Stewart Living" sale.
