#6-Mark Martin, after retiring from competition in the Busch Series in 2000 with 45 wins from 200 starts, will run in four select races in 2004. Not all details are clear yet, but it is known that Martin will run one of those four races with the colors of his Winston Cup sponsor, Viagra, on his Ford Taurus. Martin, who fielded part-time Busch Series entries for nine years, was the man to beat during the Saturday races. Martin last put the hurt on the field at Darlington Raceway in September of 2000, besting teammate Jeff Burton by 0.410 seconds doing so.(Team Ford Racing)(6-4-2003)

I just think once you become a full time Winston Cup Driver, you should stay out of the Busch Series. I mean really what is Mark going to prove, that he's better than a bunch a Bucsh drivers?

this is getting old cup drivers need to stay out of busch

Same thing Tony Stewart proves when he goes back to all these local tracks to compete against heavily underfunded local drivers...he likes to win races.

Damn got me on that one. LOL what can I say, You are right, not exactly. When Tony goes back to the local tracks it's a different type of racing. I would feel the same way if it was Tony going back to Busch.

I think it is smart of Mark Martin to go race a few Busch races next year. It will help him get that extra confidence since he always does well in a Busch car.

Hmmm, the only difference I see is that the Busch Whackers get a little more track time on those tracks the Busch race is run companion with the Winston Cup event. Tony has a huge advantage on a driver that has to use his winnings to pay his fuel & tire bill for the year & if he is 'lucky' enough to get a sponsor on the hood of his car...usually gets around $5000 for the whole season...he ever totals the car...it will probably cost him around $30,000 to build a new one & that money comes out of his own pocket. ;)

Well this comming from a diehard Mark fan, Maybe he hasn't proved anything to a bunch of Winston drivers,And the PR would not hurt his sons chances of getting solid sponsership when he makes that move. ^_^

I guess you really don't know how good of a race car driver Mark is Badger.Nascar has kept him on the back shelve,as much as he has done it to himself. ^_^ But checks as big as the likes of Gordon still hit the po box. ;)

I don't understand how NASCAR keeps him on the back shelf? Mabey they don't like the sponsorship?

Mark is a fine racer, so is Rusty. Rusty has not won just as long as Mark

Even longer...Mark won the 600 at Lowe's last year.

Do you forget that Mark took a million bananas from the sport at Charlotte. ^_^ Rusty can;t crap or go blind with the likes of Ryan sniffing his heals. Roger has chose a new piece of meat to fly what ever advertising banner he sells,It would not surprise me to see Miller Beer take a new avenue before to long. B)

im talking about they are jackasses because they go to the leagues that they dont belong in so they can win and keep other drivers from getting the success that they should get if the other ones was in it

Thats the best way I could say it with out it being mean sounding or thats a lot nicer then what I really thing of them drivers that do it

maybe kicking all the cup guys out sounds drastic, but imo something has to be done, this year has been rediculous. look at the amount of wins in the busch series by cup drivers compared to busch drivers.

Martin is one of the best drivers to ever sit in a stock car,IMO.And I agree with pbunch,NASCAR has always given Mark the short end of the stick. When he began driving cup for Roush in'88 he was overlooked and ignored despite an impressive first year back in cup.Mark Martin has never got the kind of attention he deserves.Look at his overall record:He is better than most realize. And in my opinion Wallace is too,Rusty has just got a little more of the spotlight over the years.

I feel if he wants to run BGN or CTS ,let him. He's earned the right.

MARK MARTIN:the REAL 1990 WC champion!!!

So is it wrong for Kenny schrader to go from track to track racing, weather it be his track or to a winston west race? These guys love to race, plain and simple. They get a kick out of running against all these local guys. And the fans love it as well. When Kenseth came back to Madison to race, he more than doubled the track attendance. Does that not help keep these local tracks alive?

The busch series on the other hand is different. There should be some sort of limit. It could be phased in depending on years in cup and/or points position. and it should limit the number of races per year. Guys like Kenseth, Martin should be limited to the number of races. Let them use there cars to give other racers a chance with some quality equipment. With the backing of guys lke kenseth and Martin, it should not be too hard to keep sponsorship.

Only reason Matt was back at MIS was because Roy is the track promoter now. It was Matt's first time back to MIS since he won the championship. Some of these tracks always do well because of the racing, especially in WI, not because of the drivers that come back. What hurts the sport is the lack of sponsors.
