Sometimes things work out for the better…this is the case with the Torco’s President’s Cup Nationals at Maryland International Raceway. The race was originally targeted for June 13-15, but a conflicting event in the race market eliminated that date from consideration and it was scheduled for later in the summer. Now that event has been moved, opening the target date back up for the Nitro Jam schedule.

“We really wanted the race to take place earlier in the summer, but things didn’t look like that was going to be possible,” IHRA vice president of race operations Skooter Peaco said. “June 13-15 was not available because of a conflict. Well, that conflict has gone away and we could not be happier. Now we get to take advantage of the prime summer month of June, capitalizing on the great weather at a beautiful facility.”

There was not a June date on the original 2008 Knoll Gas Nitro Jam schedule. Now the race in Budds Creek will bridge the gap between the Suzuki Motor City Nationals in Milan, Michigan and the Cars and RV Rocky Mountain Nationals presented by Torco at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton.
Have you know, IHRA, it's 100° that time of year. The September date was perfect, cooler weather, faster racing.

On another note, they're upgrading all the facilities at MIR, officially the fastest dragstrip in the world, and adding more grandstands and modernizing the facilities. :D

I go there for the racing and have never cared about the outdated facilities, but it's all for the better and will hopefully draw larger crowds.
