I've decided I like Matt Kenseth. I'm trying to cultivate it though. I started just looking for some cool Ford Racing stuff for my F-150 deciding that all the 24 stuff just wouldn't look quite right on there. Don't get me wrong, Jeff is still my favorite by a long shot. But, I really like what I am seeing from Matt and am looking for more. Do you have any stories or info you could share to help me cultivate this?

Good choice!!! Would love to help ya, but not sure what you're looking for? You should be able to pick up graphics for your F-150 at Matt's souvenir trailer @ the next race you attend.

Or you could try these sites....www.mattkenseth.com or www.roushracing.com

Matt is a favorite driver of mine, too 4x.I have been a fan of his sinse his ASA days.

Unfortunately,I dont really know any more about him than just the basics.I do know he was inspired in part by fellow Wisconsin native Alan Kulwicki, and who knows ?He could be the first Wisconsinite sinse AK to take the big trophy back home to Wisconsin.

Kind of a shame he has been a little overshadowed by some of the more vocal drivers in the sport lately.

And,yeah....it would be a shame to have all those rainbows on that F-150!

I can't remember if I heard this somewhere, or read it, but I believe Matt's favorite driver when he was growing up was Dale Earnhardt.

Yeah, it's hard to believe that this April 1st it will be 10 years since we lost Alan. That's when I first started follwing NASCAR when Alan won the Championship in '92.

A friend of my brother's owns a restaurant in the suburbs of Milwaukee, knew Alan and knows Ted Musgrave real well. His place is a racing themed place of course & he has a Zerex driver's suit of Alan's signed by him on display there. Really Cool!

I bet Roush racing has a website with an online store. In fact, if you tell them you're replacing rainbows on a Ford, they might GIVE the stuff to you. I would. :D

One other Kenseth trivia note. He's a Metallica freak, and has a cat named Lars. Gotta like a Metallifreak. :headbang:

I have to go with Tn-Ward on this one, you can go wrong with a Metallica freak, I didnt know that but I liked Kenseth before and now I even like that much more. But seriously Kenseth is going to be a great driver. Reminds me a lot of Darrell Waltrip's driving style, keeps his car near the front all day (on his good days anyway) and then a key pit stop and then he gets some fire in his eyes and drives like hell to win.

He has a few 24ish qualities I've seen myself. You don't really notice him in the top 20 or so and then he surges ahead when he gets the chance. I'll let the Metallica stuff go though. Never really been a fan. Too muddy sounding for me even in my Heavy Metal days. Now that a bunch of my guitar students think they are "classic rock" :AHHHH: I've had to listen to, figure out, and teach a bunch of it too. At least they are a lot better than Blink 182. Now that stuff sucks!

Kenseth is far and away one of my favorites. The biggest reason I like him is how he sneaked in under the media hype over Jr's rookie season and shut them up good and proper by winning ROTY outright. I equate him to B. Lab's style of racing, hard charging when he has to be yet takes good care of his equipment until the end. He's not a media "purty boy" like some of the other youngsters but just comes and does his thing every weekend without a whole lot of fuss. "GIMME FUEL GIMME FIRE GIMME THAT WHICH I DESIRE! UGGHH!!!"

Funny, he reminds me more of David Pearson's style.
Who, Bobby or Matt? I've heard Bobby compaired to the Silver Fox as well. At any rate I wouldn't know because Pearson was racing when I was still in diapers.

LOL...Kelli (his sister) said if he & Katie ever get another cat that Matt will name him 'James'.

Finally picked up Garage Inc. the other day at the used CD store...AWESOME!!!

 Can't fight the need for speed...I'm loose, I'm clean...I'm buring lean & mean!!!

Thanks to the grace of God,I can honestly say I have never listened to a single Metallica 'song'.......

Anyway,Kenseth's style IS similar to Pearson in the way that he lies back, not showing his hand until he has to.I like that.....and Pearson was doing it before Jeff was born, btw! :)

Curiously,Jeff Gordon lists none other than Mark Martin as his biggest driving style influence....and Mark just happens to be part owner of Matt's car.mmmm??

Conspiracy of the smooth drivers, perhaps???

Don't like Metal-Lick-a...97?

Sometimes I wish Matt was more aggressive on the track, like he was here at home and sometimes in the Busch series. He'd have quite a few more wins under his belt in WC IMO. But he has never been 'over' aggressive like...I won't say names though!!!
