"Georgia-based team owner John Carter confirmed Friday he has acquired the assets of Jeremy Mayfield's Sprint Cup operation in what he called "a package deal."

Carter's operation recently announced plans to have Terry Labonte and Boris Said to drive the No. 08 for the rest of the season, beginning with this weekend's Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. Tony Furr was brought in to oversee the team, and he suggested to Carter to reach out to Mayfield, embroiled in litigation with NASCAR over a pair of failed drug tests."

I guess not! ROFL!! Now I think he just wants to see if he can get MONEY out of NASCAR since he has no income and won't be having any in NASCAR in the future.

They just might want to make him go away. I think that's what he's thinking anyway. Who KNOWS what he's thinking?!!!

It was interesting watching the old races during the week to see him up in front at the Brickyard years ago.
 
Most of what I see in the news is pure speculation. The only person who really knows what Mayfield is thinking is Jeremy himself. I look at it this way, in my mind NASCAR is a little like the mafia. They have enough money and resources to bury their mistakes and I mean that literally...

We may never know the truth and that is what really upsets me.
 
It was inevitable. We all knew that even if Jeremy wins the case he would never get on the track again. As for sponsorship i dont think he will ever get a sponsor even if he was telling the truth his name is ruined and his racing days are over.

He has more or less said that, that his time racing, at least in NASCAR is over.
 
Could we possibly agree that his career was over before all of this happened? When he got diarrhea jaw working for Evernham is when his career was at 15 minutes and counting. Everything this year has proven that he has used up too many chances.
