ROCKINGHAM, N.C. - Nextel Cup driver Jamie McMurray so far has only two Busch races planned this season with Braun Racing, Saturday's Rockingham race and the March 6 event at Las Vegas.
But he believes the team will land a sponsor soon that will allow him to compete in as many as 18 races in 2004.
"I'd say by Darlington we'll have a sponsor on there. I think for me when you get to run both series it's an advantage. I like racing, so it works out well," McMurray said.
"The guys who are running the full schedule in both series, I think that's ignorant. I don't know why you'd want to fly from Pocono to Pikes Peak. The way I look at the Busch Series is it helps my Cup program."
McMurray, last season's Cup rookie of the year, said he wouldn't jeopardize his Cup ride to run in another series.
"You can't jeopardize your job for fun. When you race Cup, you race the Busch car because you enjoy it and it might help you out," he said. "I'd run a stand-alone if it was on an off weekend, but I'd never do it flying back and forth."
