Mears Cracks a HANS too.

Mears' HANS device cracked after Talladega wreck: #25-Casey Mears says that his HANS Device suffered a minor crack in a crash last week at Talladega. Mears said he didn't see exactly how it was cracked, but he said that it was in the center area as if the left strap had been tugged hard. Mears wasn't too concerned with the cracks. "I mean in a hit like that it probably should have. It was hard," he said. He says that the device might still have been safe, but that he and his team opted to go with a new one this week. When i fliped last year i busted my helmet. If you look on the outside you can see some of the shell pelled off, but if you stick your hand in to the helmet you can fell the hole with your finger.

There has to be some give to the products, if not they will be to ridgid(sp) and will defeat what they are made for.

You still use the same one? What if it is cracked worse than what the eye can see and you flip again. You need to buy a new one. For you own safety.

I don't use it anymore. It is seating next to the fireplace with my trophys. :) It's a Bell, this year i have an RCI. I am going to get an Impact once i get the money.
