I don't know if this was posted yet but I'm happy with this. Another driver from Bakersfield making the top ranks. Now we will be able to see what he can acheive in a good car with a good team. The only problem is having two rookies on the same team.

I was really hoping for Ken Schrader or Bobby Hamilton to get that ride. I like Casey.....I really liked Rick Mears, I hope the apple did not fall far from the tree!

just read this at nascar.com i think he'll be better than spencer but i dotn know if was ready to move up we'll see but that will be hard to start with two rookies!

I think Rick Mears will probably go the route of Casey Atwood.........only more quickly!:) Chip made a mistake there.........would be better off with Jimmy Spencer in the car.

Anyone wanna bet that next year will be Sterling's last with Gannasi?:)

Yea, we'll just have't wait and see how Casey and Jimmy Elledge do , very young team. Will it work? ............... What do ya think Chip?
Out with th old and in with th new!

DE, Rick has already retired. This is Casey Mears they're talking about. Not totally sure, but I think Casey is Rick's nephew rather than his son. Rick is my age (older than Earnhardt would've been) and is a four time Indy 500 Champ. I believe he made it! :)

I think it might work out ok. Who knows could be another johnson. That really leaves hamilton with out a ride unless he keeps the 55 car and kenny goes to the 33 car. But that would be very difficult since both need sponcers

Showing my age, huh? Thinking Casey, typing Rick! My statement still stands.:)

Yep he is Rick's nephew, but that is not too far from the tree :)

Casey has certainly shown some talent and Ganassi has lifted that team to a new level with his refinements to Felix's operation. Who amongst us would have thought that Sterling would lead the points standings for as long as he did? Sterling is a very good driver and that team (the entire 3 car stable) knows what they can do now...I think they will be the ones to watch in the early going next year.

If I were going to choose a driver to teach one of my sons...it would be Sterling, DJ or Mark Martin. If I were gonna choose a team owner to give them a fair chance it would be Ganassi or Yates.

Looks like these owners are trying to get the new crop of youngsters up and running before the old dogs begin to retire. There are an awful lot of seasoned drivers out there who are being overlooked. I guess if you want a soso driver, you can go after those who have tried and failed. However, if you are adventurous and are patient enough to cull the wannabes, what have you got to lose? These kids that are coming up from the Busch series are passing some of the drivers who have been wanting a Cup ride for a long time. It's interesting to see what and who is going where.

Two rookies in the same team. We'll see how this works out next year.

They are cheaper, they have unlimited potential talent, and they listen to what you tell them to do. They also can wreck race cars, lack experience, and can't always give good feedback on the cars. I personally would pull for experience, but I guess I don't see things the way the car owners do.
