■ John Menard, the wealthy home-improvements businessman, has been debating a change in his NASCAR game plan for next season, and he is reported to be considering moving his sponsorship from Dale Earnhardt Inc. to Roger Penske’s Dodge team, with Penske expanding to a three-car operation. Menard, according to sources, has chopped his list to two owners, and it appears that Robby Gordon is no longer in the running. Menard, who is supporting son Paul on the Cup tour at DEI, has been reported interested in purchasing DEI from Teresa Earnhardt.

Well I understand why he wants to end his deal with RGordon because he hasn't posted anything positive since starting his own team. On the other hand, that would totaly suck if Teresa sold DEI to John Menard, nothing against him. What would happen to the facillity because obviously he would want to build his own shop. Anyone who has ever been to Mooresville NC knows that DEI headquarters is on the Earnhardt Family property, the house that Teresa lives in is on the hill behind the Garage Mahal. I think to do that would cost her whatever respect fans of the Earnhardt Family have remaining for her. To deny Jr majority ownership of his fathers company & then turn around & sell it would be the last straw. This was once a very prominent race team with three good drivers & billion dollar company primary sponsors on the cars. Now what, Jr's gone, Budweiser is more than likely gone & now Menard wants to pull the plug & go somewhere else. It's a sad day fans, the flags at DEI should all be at half mast.

She didn't deny him majority ownership. She offered to sell it to him and he refused to buy. And from the reported worth the price was in the ballpark of what it's worth.
Also, I would argue that it wasn't his father's company. It was at worse their company and a good argument could be made that it was her company with his name on it.
Teresa, IMO, is really getting a raw deal over this because she wouldn't give away $50+ million dollars. It's not like Lil'E couldn't afford the price tag.

So what's the deal ??
The rumor is, Menard is withdrawing his support from DEI (and/or RGordon) to go with Penske.
Yet the rumor sez, Menard wants to buy DEI ?????

Meantime, Earnhardt fans have been laying claim to Teresa scuttling the entire DEI ship since Dale died at Daytona and the predictions of doom and gloom increase in volume since Junior announced his departure. (yawn)

With that type of encouragement coming from Earnhardt fans for Teresa and continued success at DEI, there is no need for enemies. :)

Her company with his name on it. OK you know what, i'm not even gonna get started on this one cause it could drag on for days & I hate being angry at people I can't even see...

Her company with his name on it. .

Yes, it is her company with his name on it. And she, in concert with Dale were the founders of DEI. So much so, Dale, Sr., left Teresa the estate and business in his will.

Why is this such a sticking point with people ???
Why can't they get past the idea Teresa and Dale worked together. Even before they officially tied the knot so to speak ???

Do not sell Teresa short. She had a lot more to do with Dale Earnhardts success in business than many are willing to recognize.
She was a major player, driving force and a darn smart business woman who got Dale started on the proper path to investing and a major influence in hiring the right people to formulate the start of DEI.

Dale, Sr., might have expressed thoughts of wanting his sons career to be with DEI, but Dale Earnhardt, Jr., with all the love and respect he has for his father, knows he is not his father and more than anything, wants to blaze his own trail, set his own records and do things the way he wants to do them.
In business dealings with Teresa, Dale, Jr., let his personal feelings interfere but in the end, did what was right for him. And for DEI. Some people seem unwilling to accept this.

No matter what Teresa does with DEI, sells it or keeps it going, she will remain true to Dale, Sr., maintaining foundations in his honor and keeping his memory alive.
It would seem this should be deserving enough for fans to want to show respect to Teresa.

Look for DEI, with Teresa in charge, to be a major force in NASCAR in the near future. DEI will not become a museum or failure. Teresa will not let that happen.
There is more to DEI than Dale Earnhardt. Jr. and in the event Budweiser leaves, there will be another high dollar sponsor to fill their shoes. Life at DEI will go on.

A smart business person knows that and works toward the future as recent announcements have shown Teresa is doing.

I agree with you. Like I have said on here before, She is damned if she does and damned if she don't. People choose to ignore the success Theresa has brought to Earnhardt and to DEI.

You know Whiz i agree with you on the fact that she had a lot to do with his business success when he was alive...but sense he passed, she's not done very well. I think when he passed, her fire went with him.

I have to totally agree with this, she is made out to be the evil step mom, when in essence she had a huge amount of business sense that helped Sr. get on the right path.
