Got this email this afternoon ----- very scary.
Long story but briefly at 2 PM or so on Feb 8th I collapsed , acute respiratory failure. I do have COPD but it's has been well controlled by meds. Now throw in pneumococcal pneumonia and a touch of flu and all bets are off and then you end up in ICU intubated and on ventilator for 3.5 days, another 8 days in ICU before they sent me to a rehab/nursing home to work on regaining lung capacity and ability to walk.
I was hypoxic when rescue took me out. Daughter works across the street from the hospital and ran over as I arrived. Doc's asked her if I had DNR and if I would want clergy. Doc later told me he didn't think Id last another hour or two let along the night.
btw I did get the shots....
