Mexican Team to Enter Busch Series in '06
Mexican driver Jorge Goeters, who made three Busch Series starts this season - which included a pole in NASCAR’s debut at Mexico City - has announced the formation of Latin American Racing, which intends to campaign a full-time Busch effort in 2006.

Goeters himself will drive LAR’s No.06 Dodge. The team has yet to land a major sponsor, but expects to announce its backers for all 35 ‘06 Busch races in the near future. LAR, which also counts Goeters’ brother Eduardo and Mexican TV personality Adal Ramones as its co-owners, will be based out of Charlotte, N.C.

“We want to give our countrymen [in the U.S.] a race team they can identify with and support, experiencing to the maximum the excitement of NASCAR’s Busch Series,” Goeters stated.

“Even though we don’t have a sponsor yet, we’re studying our options. It doesn’t have to be a Mexican or Latin company necessarily, but someone who wants to contribute with this Latin project for Latin people.”

Goeters, 35, is the reigning champion of Mexico’s premier touring car series, Desafio Corona - a title he won’t defend next season as he intends to focus exclusively on the Busch Series. He also made a one-off Champ Car start at Monterrey this season, where he retired with mechanical problems.
